Women's hockey star Kendall Coyne Schofield will join host Brodie Brazil and analyst Curtis Brown on NBC Sports California's "Sharks Playoff Live" broadcast before and after Game 5 of San Jose's Stanley Cup playoff second-round series with the Colorado Avalanche on Saturday.
Pregame coverage begins at 6 p.m. on NBC Sports California and streaming on the MyTeams by NBC Sports app. After the Sharks try to take a 3-2 series lead, the "Sharks Playoff Live" crew will have postgame analysis and reaction beginning immediately following the conclusion of Game 5.
Coyne Schofield is among the most decorated players in the game. She scored 249 points (141 goals, 108 assists) in a record-setting college career at Northeastern University, winning the Patty Kazmaier Award as the top player in the country her senior season in 2015-16. Coyne Schofield won a gold medal with the United States at last year's Winter Olympics in PyeongChang, and is a six-time IIHF world champion.

2019 has arguably been the best year of her career. Coyne Schofield finished in the top 10 in scoring (seven goals, seven assists in 14 regular-season games) in the NWHL this season, and played in February's NWHL All-Star Game. She helped lead the Minnesota Whitecaps to the NWHL's best regular-season record, and picked up two points (both assists) in the postseason en route to the Whitecaps' first Isobel Cup title. In April, Coyne Schofield scored nine points (five goals, four assists) for the United States at the 2019 IIHF World Championships in Finland, finishing second on the team as the Americans won their fifth consecutive world championship.
On Thursday, Coyne Schofield announced she is one of 200 players who would not play professionally in North America this season in an effort to "create a sustainable professional league for women's hockey."

Back in January, Coyne Schofield stole the show at the NHL All-Star Skills Competition in San Jose, filling in for injured Avalanche star Nathan MacKinnon in the Fastest Skater event. She finished seventh in the eight-skater field with a time of 14.346 seconds, grabbing headlines as the first woman to compete in the skills competition.

Coyne Schofield, 26, left Northeastern with undergraduate and graduate degrees in communications and has worked as an analyst for NBCSN, NHL Network and Fox Sports West this season.
