Following the Kings’ 124-115 win over the Thunder, Mike Brown spoke to the media about Sacramento’s performance.
The Kings are on their way to making franchise history this season, but they aren’t the only ones.
Legendary and respected radio announcer Gary “G-Man” Gerould called his 3,000th Kings game during Sacramento’s 124-115 win over the Oklahoma City Thunder on Sunday.
After every Kings win, a Defensive Player of the Game chain is rewarded to the player who most deserves it. Sunday’s decision was a no-brainer.
"There's somebody, today, who had 3,000 games in his career," Kings assistant coach Jordi Fernandez said in the Kings locker room after the win. "Defensive Player of the Game -- The G-Man!"
The entire locker room filled with applause and cheer as Gerould stood there in shock, but that unforgettable grin across his face never went away.
Gerould held the chain up and posed for pictures with the team afterward.
His son, Bobby, tweeted out a message to Kings fans after the celebration.
But it wouldn't be a true ceremony without a speech.
"You guys did all the work, it's just my pleasure to be able to call the action," Gerould said. "I love the fact that I get the chance to do what I do for as long as I have. Thank you so much, this blows my mind. Thanks again."

Gerould's first Kings game was in the fall of 1985. His play-by-play announcing has warmed the hearts of Kings fans for as long as the organization has been in Sacramento.
Now in his 38th season with the Kings, his familiar voice has grown to be loved and adored by the entire community. That was evident on Sunday.
Gerould hopes to be calling playoff action this spring for the first time since 2006.
“It’s the first time since the Rick Adelman days that you’re legitimately good enough to win every game, and that’s so big,” Gerould told The Sacramento Bee's Joe Davidson. “It’s big for everybody involved. There’s no guarantee that the playoff drought is over, but we’ve got a shot. We have a great shot.”

Something that's been a big part in the team's success this season is establishing a new culture in the 916. Coach Mike Brown helped bring it back to the city.
How can the Kings end their playoff drought?
"Together on three," Gerould said. "One, two, three. Together!"
