The Kings would be crazy to trade center Richaun Holmes between now and the deadline, but if they do, he’s upping his value every time he steps on the court.
Coming into Friday, Holmes was averaging 18.8 points, 11.3 rebounds and two blocks over his previous four games. He found a way to put up another big game against the Celtics.
In 32 minutes of action, the Kings’ starting center posted 23 points on 7-for-11 shooting from the field and 10-for-12 from the free throw line. He added 11 rebounds for his 15th double-double of the season and he added three blocks.
The 27-year-old is an unrestricted free agent after the season and due a big pay increase, but he fits the Kings play style perfectly.
Fox continues to shine
In his fourth NBA season, De’Aaron Fox is quickly becoming a star. His big performances are becoming common-place, including fourth quarter outbursts like what he accomplished against the Celtics.
After hitting a game-winner against the Wizard on Wednesday, Fox played the role of closer again in Boston.
Fox finished the night with 29 points, five assists and two steals in 37 minutes of action. He hit 3-of-7 from long range and routinely blew through the Celtics’ defense for finishes at the rim.
Sight lines
Buddy Hield loves playing at TD Garden. He’s had some of his best games as a pro against the Celtics, including a 41-point performance last season.
Hield got hot early, knocking down three triples in the first quarter to get the Kings off to the fast start.
After a rough beginning to the season, Hield is in a groove over the last few weeks. He finished with 22 points on 6-of-13 shooting from long range and chipped in five rebounds, three assists and two blocks.
