What we learned as Kings fall to Bucks, drop seventh straight

Unlucky No. 7.

The Kings’ season-long losing streak was extended Sunday night when they dropped another tough one on the road in Milwaukee. It was all Giannis Antetokounmpo and Khris Middleton for the Bucks as they handed the Kings the 128-115 defeat.

Antetokounmpo and Middleton combined for 70 points to lead Milwaukee and Donte DiVincenzo, who was almost traded to the Kings in the offseason, added 16 points.

DaQuan Jeffries and Tyrese Haliburton led the way for Sacramento, but the Kings are in a tailspin.

Here are three takeaways as the Kings dropped their seventh straight game to fall to 12-18 on the season.

Foul, foul and foul some more

The officials handed out personal fouls to Kings players like Oprah Winfrey used to hand out cars to here studio audience. Before the Kings could even get to the half. Richaun Holmes, Marvin Bagley and Jabari Parker all had three, most of which were called while trying to defend Antetokounmpo.

The Greek Freak went to the line 15 times in the first half and 24 times overall. He knocked down 19 freebies on his way to a 38-point, 18-rebound, four-assist performance.

Sacramento was a step slow defending the two-time reigning NBA MVP, but the whistles were also a little lopsided. The Kings were outscored 29-15 at the stripe, which severely hampered their ability to compete.

More DaQuan

With Harrison Barnes out of action for a third straight game, Luke Walton turned to second-year forward DaQuan Jeffries to man the three.

Known for his defensive prowess, Jeffries did his best against Middleton. He made Middleton work for his shots and he was active on the offensive end as well.

With the Kings short-handed, Jeffries played a career-high 40 minutes, scored a career-high 18 points and added a career-high six rebounds.

Injuries have opened a door and Jeffries is taking advantage of the opportunity.

Welcome back

Holmes returned to action after missing the last three games with knee soreness and he looked like he hadn’t missed a beat.

RELATED: Holmes focused on season, not looming free agency

Despite struggling with foul trouble, Holmes managed to post a double-double before the teams could get to the locker room for halftime.

He finished with 11 points on to go with 11 rebounds in the loss.
