Kings pick up Bagley's fourth-year option for 2021-22 season

Kings’ draft pick Tyrese Haliburton met with the media ahead of training camp to talk about what he brings to the table next to his new teammates. De’Aaron Fox dishes on his relationship and expectations with Haliburton.

No surprise here.

The Kings on Friday exercised the fourth-year option for Marvin Bagley III for the 2021-22 season. The 21-year-old is part of a rebuilding core centered around De’Aaron Fox and rookie Tyrese Haliburton.

As far as this upcoming season goes, it’s unclear whether Bagley will be playing more power forward or center. The Kings plan to play him in multiple situations depending on the matchup as part of a big-man rotation that includes Richaun Holmes, Nemanja Bjelica and newly-acquired Hassan Whiteside.

Bagley was selected by the Kings second overall in the 2018 NBA Draft out of Duke. Since then, he’s averaged 14.8 points and 7.6 rebounds per game. He missed most of the 2019-20 season due to a thumb injury, and later a foot injury before the Orlando bubble restart.

He also was named to the 2018-19 All-Rookie First Team.
