Kings' preseason schedule for '21-22 features Suns, Lakers

The Kings defeated the Boston Celtics by a score of 100-67 to win the Las Vegas Summer League championship. This is the second time the Kings have won the title. Louis King earned the title of MVP.

Basketball has become an 11 month season. The only true downtime is a small sliver of days between Las Vegas Summer League in mid-August until training camp begins in the last week of September.

Before everyone involved in the league takes a quick vacation, there is one last piece of business that needs to be handled -- the release of the schedule.

The preamble to the schedule release hit inboxes Thursday morning when the Kings' four-game preseason schedule was announced.

Sacramento will open up against the Western Conference Champion Phoenix Suns on Oct. 4. From there, the Kings have a trip to Los Angeles to face the Clippers on Oct. 6.

After a short break to assess the team and clean up any issues, the Kings will fly to Portland for a match-up against the Trail Blazers on Oct. 11. They'll finish off the preseason schedule at home at Golden 1 Center with their first look at a revamped Los Angeles Lakers team on Oct. 14.

The regular-season schedule is set to hit Friday, Aug. 20, at 12 p.m. PST, although the national television slate for the first week of the season and Christmas Day dropped on Monday. The NBA season will kick off on Oct. 19, although the Kings may or may not have a game on opening night.

Sacramento's preseason schedule is filled with Western Conference opponents that should test the team. The Kings already have their roster set at 15 regular players, plus two two-way players in Neemias Queta and Louis King. There is still plenty of time to make changes, but this could also be the squad that opens up training camp in the last week of September.
