The 152nd running of the Belmont Stakes will kick off this year's race for the Triple Crown on Saturday, after the Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes were moved back due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
The race, which will take place outside New York City, has been shortened this year from 1 1/2 miles to 1 1/8 miles due to the pandemic.
Tiz the Law enters the race as the betting favorite after Nadal, Charlatan and Maxfield all withdrew. Tiz the Law won the Florida Derby.

While Tiz the Law enters as the favorite, its owner and jockey won't be thrilled with its place in the race. Tiz the Law will run out of the No. 8 gate, a position only five horses have won out of in Belmont history.
Here are the positions for Saturday's running of the Belmont Stakes.
1. Tap It To Win (6-1)
2. Sole Volante (9-2)
3. Max Player (15-1)
4. Modernist (15-1)
5. Farmington Road (15-1)
6. Fore Legt (30-1)
7. Jungle Runner (50-1)
8. Tiz the Law (6-5)
9. Dr Post (5-1)
10. Pneumatic (6-1)
Unsurprisingly, the most winners in Belmont history have come out of the No. 1 gate, with 23 past winners racing from there. Post No. 5 and Post. No. 3 are second with 13 winners out of each gate.
