SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — At some point, the Giants’ PR staff will have to print out a spring training roster. They should probably wait as long as possible, though.

For the fourth time in a week, the Giants are adding a veteran to the mix as they seek to fill out the bench. The club is close to a deal with infielder Yangervis Solarte, per a source.

According to Jon Heyman of MLB Network, Solarte will get $1.75 million if he makes the big league club. Solarte still must pass a physical.

Solarte, a switch-hitter, was with the Blue Jays last season after four solid seasons with the San Diego Padres. His best season was 2016, when he posted a .808 OPS and hit 15 homers.

Solarte had a .226/.277/.378 slash line with the Blue Jays last year. He hit 17 homers, which was more than any Giant. Solarte played third base for the Blue Jays but also has played second, short, first and left.

The Giants have also signed catchers Stephen Vogt and Rene Rivera and outfielder Gerardo Parra in recent days.
