There has been additional progress in the latest search for the Giants' managerial vacancy.
MLB.com's Mark Feinsand reported Tuesday night, citing a source, that Kansas City Royals quality control and catching coach Pedro Grifol has been asked by the Giants to come back for a second interview.

The Giants first interviewed Grifol on Oct. 10.
The 49-year-old was drafted by the Minnesota Twins in the sixth round of the 1991 MLB Draft, and spent some time playing minor league ball. His background also includes working in the Seattle Mariners organization as the director of minor league operations.
Grifol is part of a growing group of hopefuls vying for the job.

Former A's manager Bob Geren interviewed for the position as well as Oakland's quality control coach, and former player, Mark Kotsay. Houston Astros' bench coach Joe Espada was invited for his second interview in the midst of his World Series race.
Former Philadelphia Phillies manager Gabe Kapler also received a second interview with the Giants.
