MLB rumors: Broadcaster Mike Krukow wants Josh Harrison on the Giants

If you watched the Giants at all in 2018, you likely came away muttering one thing to yourself: “This team lacks energy.”

Well, they are reportedly interested in Josh Harrison, and the 31-year-old two-time All-Star is a bundle of energy.

Harrison has several teams pursuing him as Fancred’s Jon Heyman pointed out on Thursday, and Giants broadcaster Mike Krukow would like to see the Giants bring him to San Francisco.

“Yeah, I hope [they sign him],” Krukow said on KNBR 680 on Friday morning. “I’ve liked that guy for a long time. He’s an energy guy, he’s a Pablo Sandoval guy, and he doesn’t have to think to do it, it’s who he is. He’s a lot of fun.”

During the height of his tenure with the Giants at the beginning of the decade, Sandoval provided a joyful spark to the team, and played a key role in the 2010, 2012, and 2014 World Series titles.

Adding someone like Harrison could make the Giants a little more fun to watch in 2019.

Krukow also talked about why Harrison fits what president of baseball operations Farhan Zaidi is looking for.

“He’s versatile, I think that’s the one thing you’re going to see with Farhan,” Krukow said. “I think he’s going to bring in guys that can do a lot of things … even pitch.”

In case you forgot, Sandoval made his pitching debut during a blowout against the Dodgers in April. He pitched a scoreless inning of relief. Fans started a “Let Pablo pitch” campaign and t-shirts were even made.

If Harrison were to sign and have any such impact, Zaidi will have found someone who can help change the culture to this next era of Giants baseball.
