In his first full season in the big leagues, Mike Yastrzemski got more support in the NL MVP race than any Giant since Buster Posey in 2014.
Yastrzemski finished eighth in the balloting, finishing between Nationals shortstop Trea Turner and Dodgers shortstop Corey Seager. He was the first Giant to place in the top 10 since Posey finished ninth in 2015, and had the highest finish by a Giant since Posey's sixth place in 2014.
Yastrzemski was listed on 24 of 30 ballots, with one fourth-place vote and three sixth-place votes.

Brandon Belt received a ninth-place vote, giving the Giants two players on the ballot -- you can vote for 10 players -- for the first time since 2016. The Giants received just one vote over the last three seasons, with Kevin Pillar being put 10th on one ballot last year.
Yastrzemski finished seventh in the league in Wins Above Replacement (2.7) and totaled 10 homers, 39 runs and 35 RBI despite missing six games at the end of the year with a calf strain. He hit .297 with a .400 on-base percentage and slugged .568.
