Former Giants slugger Barry Bonds entered the day as one of four players in MLB history with at least 500 career homers and multiple batting titles.
That exclusive club has a new member, as Detroit Tigers star Miguel Cabrera hit his 500th career homer Sunday against the Toronto Blue Jays at Rogers Centre.

SIGN UP HERE Cabrera, one of the greatest hitters in MLB history, has won four batting titles during his 19-year big-league career (2011, 2012, 2013 and 2015).
Including Bonds and Cabrera, the other three players on the list are Ted Williams, Hank Aaron and Jimmie Foxx, according to ESPN's Paul Hembekides.
Bonds, who holds the all-time record with 762 career homers, won two batting titles (2002 and 2004).
It might be a long time before Bonds and Cabrera welcome a new member into the 500-homer, multiple-batting title club.

Other than Cabrera, there are eight other active players with at least 300 career homers (Albert Pujols, Nelson Cruz, Robinson Cano, Giancarlo Stanton, Justin Upton, Joey Votto, Evan Longoria and Mike Trout).
Pujols, who has 676 career homers, has won one batting title (2003), but he's not the hitter he was in his prime and his career is winding down. Cruz, 41 years old, doesn't have any batting titles and likely needs to play two or three more seasons to get to 500 homers. Cano, 38, who currently is suspended, has no batting titles and is stuck at 334 homers. Votto, a great hitter, never has won a batting title and has 323 career homers entering play Sunday. He's also 37. Longoria is 35 years old and has 314 career homers entering Sunday.
Of the eight players with at least 300 homers, Stanton and Trout have the best shots to get to 500 long balls before the end of their careers. While both have won at least one MVP award, neither has won a batting title. So they have work to do.
There also are only three active players with multiple batting titles (Jose Altuve (3), DJ LeMahieu (2) and Christian Yelich (2), but none of the three even have 200 career homers.

Los Angeles Dodgers star Mookie Betts, 28 years old, might get there someday. He won the 2018 AL batting title and has 172 career homers. Washington Nationals phenom Juan Soto, one of the best young hitters in the game, won the NL batting title in 2020 and has 89 career homers. He turns 23 in October.
Cabrera and Bonds are two of the best hitters the game has seen over the last three decades, and we might not see anyone like them for another three decades.
