How ex-Giants Jeremy Affeldt, Rich Aurilia did on Guy Fieri's TV show

What do you get when you combine celebrity chef/television host Guy Fieri and baseball?

That's right, you get “Guy’s Grocery Games: Big League Teams.”

Former Giants pitcher Jeremy Affeldt and infielder Rich Aurilia joined the Food Network show to display some of their culinary skills with a carb-loading challenge.

What better challenge is there, really?

Affeldt said playing 14 MLB seasons and winning a few World Series championships was cool, but being a “grill master,” is something he’s just as proud of.

Also, here's a fun fact: Did you know that if Aurilia didn’t take the baseball, and now NBC Sports Bay Area analyst route, he would have gone to culinary school?

Well, now you do.

Four-time All-Star pitcher Brian Fuentes joined them and the challenge began with some trivia right off the bat. And yes, the question had to do with Babe Ruth and hot dogs.

While Affeldt was making his poutine, he talked a little trash to Fuentes, which made things really interesting while they were competing in a carb-loading dish-off.

Aurilia was also working on some poutine during the competition in which the proceeds would go toward his charity, “Generation Alive,” which empowers youth to engage in the needs of their community.

Over at Aurilia’s station, they were working on some mac and cheese. He was playing for the Emeril Lagasse Foundation.

I can’t reveal too much, but it was a lot of fun and there was so much cheese and plenty of baseball metaphors to match.
