Giants vs. Phillies lineups: Mike Yastrzemski bats second against lefty

We are finally hours away from the MLB trade deadline without anything crazy happening ... yet.

The Giants possess the biggest trade chip in Madison Bumgarner, but it's Tyler Beede who will take the bump against the Phillies on Tuesday to begin a three-game road series.

Beede has never faced the Phillies and is coming off of a tough outing against the Cubs. He allowed 10 hits and three homers -- a career-high. Still, he's only allowed two runs or fewer in five of his last 10 starts.

The Phillies will send Drew Smyly to the mound for the starting honors. He fared well for the team against Pittsburgh last week when he allowed just one run in six innings.

San Francisco currently is inching closer and closer toward a wild-card spot and the Phillies could be the perfect next victim for the red-hot squad.

Philly is currently 55-50 and third in the NL East which isn't quite what the team wanted when they acquired Bryce Harper. The Giants, of course, were one of the finalists in the running to obtain the six-time All-Star, so in a way, this matchup could be an "oh, what could have been," game.

Harper, along with the rest of the baseball world, has been witnessing a Giants team who sits at second in the NL West, and 2 1/2 games out of an NL wild-card spot -- only 1 1/2 games behind the Phillies in the wild-card chase. This should be a fun series for the Orange and Black.
