Mike Yastrzemski made a Catch of the Year candidate for the Giants against the Padres on Monday night.

The Giants are just four games into the 2022 MLB season, but Mike Yastrzemski just turned in a Play of the Year candidate on Monday night.

In the top of the fourth inning of the Giants' game against the San Diego Padres at Oracle Park, Yastrzemski made an incredible diving catch in foul territory on a fly ball off the bat of Wil Myers.

The Padres had runners on first and second base, and the lead runner was able to tag up and advanced to third base, but that didn't matter. The catch was worth it.

Giants broadcasters Duane Kuiper and Mike Krukow were stunned by Yastrzemski's catch.

"I didn't think he had a chance," Krukow said.

"I don't care if you have 158 more games left," Kuiper said. "You're not going to see a better catch than that."

"That's a one-of-a-season," Krukow responded.

And if the bullpen mounds hadn't been moved beyond the outfield wall a few seasons ago, Yastrzemski might not have made that catch or he might have gotten hurt trying to make it.
