SAN FRANCISCO -- A few hours before Tuesday's game, Luis González walked out of the home clubhouse at Oracle Park, stepped out onto the dirt in front of the home dugout, and shook hands with ... Luis Gonzalez.
The rookie outfielder has been one of the best stories of the season thus far for the Giants, but when you look up his statistics, it's not his face that shows up first. That honor belongs to the other Luis Gonzalez, who played 19 years in the big leagues and set the bar high by making five All-Star teams.
The older Gonzalez played his best years with the Arizona Diamondbacks and now works for the organization as a senior advisor, and when he came to town this week he wanted to meet the Giants' González.

A meeting was set up, much to the surprise of the Giants outfielder.
"It was so cool," he said after the game. "I was telling him that since I was a little boy I was watching him play and he was one of my favorite players, so for them to say that Luis Gonzalez wanted to meet me, it was pretty cool."
The Giants' González went to high school in Tucson, Ariz., so he knows all about what the Diamondbacks' Gonzalez accomplished. Because he was also a baseball player, some people in Tucson thought he was actually the son of the former Diamondbacks star.
"I got it all the time," he said. "It became normal to me."
The Giants' González was on the IL when the teams met for the first time last week, but when the Diamondbacks came to town Monday, a message was passed along to a Giants coach that the Diamondbacks' Gonzalez -- whose son was once drafted by the Giants -- wanted to meet. The Giants' González was thrilled.

The two took photos together and signed a ball, and the Giants' González said he hopes they can print a photo out and both sign it.
"It was a really special moment," he said.
