Just like that, the Giants' magical 2021 MLB season is over after suffering a stunning 2-1 loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers in Game 5 of the National League Division Series on Thursday night at Oracle Park.

But Cody Bellinger singled off rookie Camilo Doval to drive in Justin Turner in the ninth inning and Max Scherzer came out of the bullpen to shut the door on San Francisco in the bottom half of the inning, putting an end to their season.
Wilmer Flores struck out on a controversial check-swing to end the game.
The Dodgers will advance to take on the Atlanta Braves in the National League Championship Series, which will begin Saturday night at Truist Park.

Despite the disappointing way their season concluded, the Giants have to be thrilled with everything they accomplished. Pundits and experts predicted they would win around 75 games, and instead, they won a franchise-record 107 games. They captured their first NL West title since 2012, snapping the Dodgers' eight-year run of division crowns.
The Giants now will head into an offseason full of questions while their bitter rival moves on to the NLCS.
