Giants' winning streak snapped in shutout loss to Cardinals

The Giants' flight to Mexico City won't be a happy one after losing 6-0 to the St. Louis Cardinals in the final contest of a four-game series Thursday at Oracle Park.

The loss snaps the Giants' five-game winning streak and drops their record to 11-13 as they head to Mexico to play two games against the San Diego Padres on Saturday and Sunday.

Logan Webb (L, 1-5) put together another effective start, but got no support from the offense. In 6 2/3 innings, the Giants' ace allowed seven hits, two earned runs and one walk while striking out seven. He lowered his ERA this season from 4.40 to 4.10.

While the Giants kept nemesis Paul Goldschmidt in the park, they were beaten by the bottom of the Cardinals' lineup, with all the damage against Webb coming in the seventh inning.

Cardinals right fielder Alec Burleson got the scoring started with a solo homer off Webb.

Paul DeJong and Tyler O'Neill followed with singles and advanced to second and third on a flyout by Andrew Knizner. Tommy Edman then reached on an infield single, allowing DeJong to score the second run against Webb.

Reliever John Brebbia allowed two earned runs in an inning of work, while rookie Tristan Beck also gave up two earned runs in 1 1/3 innings pitched.
