On the latest Giants Talk podcast, Alex Pavlovic and Cole Kuiper discussed how Buster Posey’s two home runs to start the season are a result of improved health after a year off.
The Giants and A's don't make many trades, but they do like picking up each other's players off waivers in the offseason, and on Monday the Giants got another one.
Outfielder Skye Bolt was claimed a few days after the A's designated him for assignment. To open up a 40-man roster spot, the Giants DFA'd right-hander Ashton Goudeau, who briefly joined the roster on a waiver claim after the Giants put Dedniel Nuñez on the 60-day IL. Nuñez recently had Tommy John surgery and will miss the whole season.
Bolt, 27, has just five big league appearances, all with the A's in 2019. He spent most of that season in Triple-A, posting a .350 on-base percentage and slugging .459. Bolt has primarily been a center fielder in the minors, and that's a position of need for the organization.

The Giants have Steven Duggar on their Triple-A roster and LaMonte Wade Jr. -- who is traveling with the team as a member of the taxi squad -- can play center as well, but is a better fit in the corners. The Giants also have Heliot Ramos, but do not want to rush him if injuries open holes on the big league roster.
Goudeau will now go through waivers, with the Giants hoping to keep him around and stash him in Triple-A. The 28-year-old made four appearances for the Rockies last season and was added during a spring in which pitching depth was the primary focus for the front office.
