Camilo Doval was not only made for the pressure, but the young Giants reliever actually loves it.
After a couple of game-on-the-line moments, the Giants were able to hang on to the lead and beat their rival Los Angeles Dodgers for the second day in a row on Saturday at a raucous Oracle Park. And Doval was a large reason why.
“It was very loud out there, I couldn’t even hear the PitchCom,” Doval said through an interpreter after the game. “I had to step [away] a couple of times and was like ‘Well let me wait and see if the fans will quiet down a little.’ ”

But they didn’t.
Oracle Park was taken over by Dodgers fans who got increasingly louder in the final innings.
And even more so when Giants manager Gabe Kapler called on Doval to play hero in a sticky situation at the top of the eighth. Doval walked the first batter he faced, Chris Taylor, loading the bases for the second straight inning.
But just like Jarlín García did the inning prior, Doval escaped the inning after striking out both Gavin Lux and Mookie Betts.
“It’s different,” Doval said. “The adrenaline is way different and that’s what I love, just seeing the fans all going crazy.”
And this time, it was Giants fans who got to be loud as they cheered with excitement after the back-to-back heart-stopping innings.
