Giants 2020 MLB schedule release: Dates, times for 60-game season

The Giants hope to be under-the-radar contenders in a shortened season. They'll get a chance right away to prove they'll be right in the mix in the National League West.

The Giants will open the 60-game season with a four-game series against the Dodgers in Los Angeles, including a July 23 game that will be one of two on the national schedule as MLB returns four months after spring training was shut down. The Nationals and Yankees kick off the season earlier that day.

The Giants will then come home for a six-game homestand against the Padres and Rangers. The home opener, which will be played without fans, will be Tuesday, July 28.

Here is the full 60-game schedule:

Buster Posey and the rest of the team will have to wait until August 21 to get their first look at longtime ace Madison Bumgarner. That's when the Diamondbacks come into town for the first time, and the Giants also face them the next weekend and once more in September at Oracle Park.

To limit travel, the Giants will play the American League West in interleague play and face the A's six times. They visit the Astros, host the Rangers, and play home-and-home series against the Angels and Mariners. On August 17-18 they will play two games against the Angels in Anaheim, and then the teams will come up the coast to play two more in San Francisco. That's one of the quirks of a 60-game season that is being played regionally.

If the Giants can stay in the race, they have a soft finishing run. They close the season with seven games at home against the Rockies and Padres.
