Belt, Yaz first duo of Giants with 25-plus homers since 2006

The Giants entered the night five homers shy of tying the single-season franchise record, and with Mike Yastrzemski’s three-run blast, they moved to within one of tying the mark.

One of the biggest storylines of the Giants' 2021 MLB season has been the barrage of homers they have hit.

In their 100th win of the season Friday night in Denver, the Giants clubbed four more homers, moving to within one of tying the franchise's single-season record set in 2001.

Two of the four homers in the 7-2 win over the Colorado Rockies came off the bats of Brandon Belt and Mike Yastrzemski, and that led to a notable achievement for the Giants' franchise.

Belt's homer was his 27th of the season, and Yastrzemski's was his 25th, marking the first time the Giants have had two players with 25 or more homers since Barry Bonds and Ray Durham (26 each) in 2006.

Brandon Crawford hit his 22nd homer of the season in the win, setting a new career high, and with eight games remaining in the regular season, he has a chance to get to 25 long balls himself.

Buster Posey, Wilmer Flores and LaMonte Wade Jr. have 18 homers each, all with reasonable shots at 20 homers before the end of the season.

The Giants are set to shatter the franchise record of 235 homers in a season, and it's a big reason why they are the first team in MLB to reach 100 wins this season.
