A's third baseman Matt Chapman wins AL Platinum Glove for first time

Stop me if you've heard this before: Matt Chapman won a defensive award.

On Friday, the A's third baseman won the AL Platinum Glove Award, which is voted on by fans and given to the best defensive player regardless of position.

Earlier this week, Chapman won his first career Gold Glove Award at third base. Since then, fans have had the opportunity to vote for one of the Gold Glove winners to win the Platinum Glove Award and Chapman took the crown in the AL. His former high school teammate Nolan Arenado, now with the Colorado Rockies, won the NL's Platinum Glove.

[BRAZIL: Matt Chapman's first AL Gold Glove was deserved, and here's why]

Chapman, 25, led all of baseball with 29 defensive runs saved last season. He topped MLB third basemen with a 10.9 ultimate zone rating, .7853 zone rating, and 331 assists, and was tied for first in the AL with 61 out-of-zone plays.

Chapman is the first A's player to win a Platinum Glove since it was established in 2011. He was also just named the Wilson Defensive Player of the Year on Wednesday.

It's safe to say the secret is out on Matt Chapman.
