Ramón Laureano was taking over Mike Trout’s usual territory at Angel Stadium in more ways than one.
The Athletics center fielder absolutely saved reliever Jake Diekman by robbing a home run off the bat of Anthony Rendon in the bottom of the seventh inning of Friday night’s 8-4 win over the Los Angeles Angels.
And it was a beauty.

Laureano's done this before. Last season against the Angels, he remained a thorn in the team's side with a home run and more miraculous catches.
It’s also reminiscent of the time he robbed Cincinnati Reds first baseman Joey Votto of a home run during Mike Fiers’ no-hitter in 2019. He got a nice watch as a thank you.

It’s not surprising, however, for someone like Laureano.
Laureano recently was dubbed a game-changer by teammate Matt Chapman, who knows a thing or two about changing the game.
“Ramón as a teammate -- pretty much what you see on TV,” A’s third baseman Matt Chapman said on Wednesday. “Ramón’s got one speed -- everything you see on TV is Ramón. All in, he’s all in. A lot of passion, a lot of energy, but he’s a good guy. He loves to talk the game, Ramón can talk baseball 24/7, Ramón eats, sleeps, breathes baseball and that’s the kind of guy you want to have on your team.”

Oh, and Laureano was 4-for-4 on the night with a home run to now lead the team overall with 11.
If you saw it on TV, you’d agree Laureano’s basically a human highlight reel.
