
Tragedy struck the A's family Friday.
Miguel Marte, a former prospect who played in the Oakland organization from 2008 to 2012, died Tuesday after a battle with the coronavirus (COVID-19), the A's announced.
Marte was 30 years old.

Marte, a catcher, first baseman and right fielder, spent five seasons playing in the lower levels of the A's minor league system.
In 227 career games, Marte slashed .251/.320/.373 with 16 home runs and 117 RBI.

He last played professional baseball in 2012 for the Vermont Lake Monsters in the Class A short-season New York-Penn League.
Marte is survived by his wife Jasmin and his twin children Isabella and Miguel Angel. A GoFundMe page has been set up to help the Marte family.
