The A's losing the Bay Bridge Series to the Giants was topped with a not so sweet cherry: Outfielder Stephen Piscotty would go on the 10-day injured list with a high right ankle sprain.
With that news, the A's announced they will recall first baseman Seth Brown from Triple-A Las Vegas. In a corresponding move, the A's have designated outfielder Nick Martini for assignment.
Brown is hitting .297/.352/.634 with 37 home runs this season in Triple-A. In his last 10 games alone, he's sporting a .405 average.

This season, Brown has moved around playing first base and the outfield, filling the empty spot left from Piscotty and the injured Ramón Laureano.
The 27-year-old spoke to KDRV, the ABC affiliate in Medford, Ore. in a phone interview and was emotional after Aviators manager Fran Riordan gave him the news during batting practice prior to their game in Tacoma, Wash. Brown called his dad after receiving word.
This is Brown's first major league call-up.
