Watch 49ers QB C.J. Beathard's emotional eulogy at brother's funeral

A week after his younger brother Clayton was fatally stabbed outside a Nashville bar, 49ers quarterback C.J. Beathard gave an emotional, yet funny, eulogy at a funeral service at Grace Chapel in Franklin, Tenn. on Saturday.

Beathard's speech lasted roughly eight minutes and touched on what made Clayton so special.

"Clay had a natural light in him that everyone could see," C.J. Beathard said. "He made friends with literally everybody."

C.J. also reflected on the last time he, Clayton and their brother Tucker hung out at the family house.

It was the night before C.J. had to fly to California to be with the 49ers. Around midnight, the three brothers took their dad's Polaris off-road vehicle deep into the woods on their property to set up a deer camera. As C.J. tells it, all they had was the headlight on the vehicle and one cell phone with limited battery power.

The brothers were 200 yards deep in the woods when the headlight on the Polaris died and the cell phone battery was down to 2 percent. They had to find their way back to the house in pitch black darkness. When they finally got back to the house, their mom was still awake. They told her that they left the Polaris in the woods. She told them they better go get it before their dad wakes up or he's going to kill them.

C.J. had a 6 a.m. flight to California and Tucker, a musician was also leaving for a tour, so they told Clayton this was his problem to solve since he was going to be around for another week.

The friends and family in attendance Saturday got a good laugh out of the story.

C.J. also talked about how Clayton always pumped him up.

"Clay was always my biggest fan," C.J. said. "He was all of our biggest fans. He's the most proud guy of his family and the people that care about him. He would literally text me before every game and tell me I'm the best quarterback he's ever seen."

Nashville authorities arrested accused murderer Michael Mosley on Christmas day. Mosley is facing two counts of criminal homicide for the deaths of Clayton Beathard and Paul Trapeni III, and one count of attempted criminal homicide for injuries sustained by a third victim.
