SANTA CLARA -- George Kittle has proven himself to be an elite tight end, but 49ers left tackle Trent Williams says Kittle isn't the only standout in the room.
Kittle became the highest-paid tight end in NFL history last month, was voted the league's No. 7 player by his peers and earned a First Team All-Pro nod last season. He should have a lot of depth behind him in 2020.
The 49ers added free agent Jordan Reed and sixth-round draft pick Charlie Woerner during the offseason. Along with Ross Dwelley, Williams believes the group is one of a kind.

SIGN UP HERE “It’s the best in the league. It’s elite from top to bottom,” Williams said. “Even Charlie, the rookie, when you turn the film on, he’s probably one of the better blockers on the team. Coming from a rookie tight end, that’s saying a lot.”

Coach Kyle Shanahan is known for creatively using his tight ends and Kittle, in an earlier media session Thursday, hinted a set with all four tight ends might be on the agenda.
Williams lit up with an ear-to-ear smile when he was asked about the tight ends' blocking abilities. The thought of what they could do alongside Williams clearly amused the left tackle.

“Of course we all know what Jordan is capable of,” Williams said. “Dwelley made a ton of plays for this team last year and continues to make plays. Obviously, George is the best in the game. I think our tight-end room is as good as it could possibly get.”
