The 49ers will be on the clock shortly after the 2019 NFL Draft begins Thursday, and it looks like they already might be clearing space for the player they will take at No. 2 overall.

With San Francisco expected to take either Nick Bosa -- should he not be taken No. 1 -- or Quinnen Williams, the 49ers reportedly are looking to trade a current member of their defensive line group, according to Pro Football Talk's Mike Florio.

Thomas, a Stanford product, was the No. 3 overall pick in 2017 after Browns edge rusher Myles Garrett and Bears QB Mitchell Trubisky. The 24-year-old is a great athlete, but he hasn't produced on the field the way general manager John Lynch had hoped, notching just four sacks in two seasons.

If the 49ers do select Bosa, then Thomas' playing time would see a noticeable decline, so it makes sense that Lynch would see what he can get for a young player with upside.
