The 49ers might not keep their second of two first-round picks, but San Francisco could land a foundational piece with the No. 31 overall selection.
NBC Sports Bay Area’s 49ers insider Matt Maiocco projected the 49ers would select Boise State offensive tackle Ezra Cleveland with the pick in NBC Sports’ NFL Mock Draft on Wednesday.
All-decade left tackle Joe Staley has been a fixture on San Francisco’s offensive line, but it’s not clear whether he will come back in 2020 (or beyond). General manager John Lynch said this week he expects Staley to return, but Maiocco argued it can’t hurt the 49ers to prepare for life without Staley.

"They have their offensive line set for maybe the next decade (if they pick Cleveland)," Maiocco said.
