INDIANAPOLIS -- The 49ers won't meet with any quarterbacks at this week's NFL Scouting Combine, but Kyler Murray still grabbed John Lynch's attention.
“We obviously aren’t in the market for a quarterback, but I keep throwing his darn film on because he’s so fun to watch," the 49ers general manager said Thursday. "He's an electric player.”
Lynch admits not watching much college football during the season. But while Lynch catches up in preparation for the NFL draft, the Heisman Trophy-winning QB from Oklahoma has shown up on his radar.

"I hadn’t seen Kyler play much, man," Lynch said. "It is electric, and it's fun to watch. That Heisman was for real."
Murray’s draft stock went up when his measurables were made official at the combine. His height, which previously had been in question, officially was announced as just over 5-foot-10. He also has bulked up to 207 pounds after weighing 195 in college.
Here are Murray's full combine measurements:
Height: 5-10 1/8
Weight: 207
Hand: 9 4/8
Arm: 28 4/8
Wingspan: 69 4/8
The 49ers own the No. 2 overall pick in the draft, but Murray likely won't be an option there. Jimmy Garoppolo's return from his ACL tear is on schedule, and backups C.J. Beathard and Nick Mullens remain on the roster. Lynch said the team could keep all three quarterbacks heading into next season.

Lynch also light-heartedly responded to the question of height being important for QBs.
“Way overrated,” Lynch quipped. “No, I don’t know. I just know he’s special. He’s one of those guys, as you know, you have your profiles and all that, but can a guy play? And that guy can play. Apparently he can do anything. I’ve talked to baseball people that say he’s a can’t-miss prospect there [the A's drafted ninth last year] and, you know, a talented guy.”
Murray seems to have it all, including a great personality. While he might not participate in drills while in Indianapolis, it appears it’s already been a successful visit for the prospect.
“Had a chance to meet him at the Super Bowl,” Lynch said, “and he’s a very engaging personalty.”
