With both Deebo Samuel and Nick Bosa having special seasons, John Lynch informed the media that the 49ers organization has already budgeted out new contracts for both of the 49ers stars to stay with the team.

The 49ers will receive two compensatory third-round picks in the next two NFL drafts as a result of offensive coordinator Mike McDaniel becoming the head coach of the Miami Dolphins.

In 2020, the NFL enacted a measure that rewards teams for developing minority coaches and executives.

The 49ers last year received third-round draft picks in three consecutive years when Robert Saleh was hired as New York Jets head coach and executive Martin Mayhew was hired as Washington's general manager.

The league will provide the 49ers with compensatory picks over the next two seasons with McDaniel leaving for the Dolphins' top job.

McDaniel is biracial, he told NBC Sports Bay Area last year. Coach Kyle Shanahan hired McDaniel to be a top assistant with the 49ers after coming to the organization in 2017.

The 49ers currently expect to have nine draft picks in 2022 with their top selection coming at No. 61 overall. The 49ers are projected with three compensatory selections in the seventh round for last year’s free-agent losses of Solomon Thomas, Kerry Hyder and C.J. Beathard, according to overthecap.com.

The team does not have a first-round draft pick in the next two years after trading those selections to the Dolphins last March in order to move up to No. 3 overall to select quarterback Trey Lance in the 2021 NFL Draft. The 49ers also sent their third-round compensatory pick this year to the Dolphins as part of the deal.
