During the 49ers’ State of the Franchise event, Greg Papa asked wide receivers Brandon Aiyuk and Jauan Jennings about working with quarterback Trey Lance this offseason.

After rumors of “arm fatigue” circled around 49ers quarterback Trey Lance, Brandon Aiyuk has jumped quickly to his teammate's defense.

The wideout clapped back with a funny caption on a video posted to his social media. Aiyuk’s Instagram video shows him catching three deep passes from Lance during a workout in Southern California. The two have been joined by Miami Dolphins receiver River Cracraft.

“The only three throws from the day, his arm got fatigued after that,” Aiyuk’s caption reads.

Recently, reports surfaced from Fox broadcaster Colin Cowherd and Bally’s Mike Silver that the young quarterback has suffered from arm fatigue. Aiyuk clearly believes there is no truth to the rumors, and several of his teammates agree.

Kyle Juszczyk, George Kittle, Trey Sermon and Trent Williams, among others, added their two cents in the comment section in support of the sophomore quarterback’s arm fitness. This is not the only discussion about the young play caller’s technique, either.

While there was much talk outside team headquarters about the possibility of Lance working on changing his throwing motion to get more spin on the ball, coach Kyle Shanahan and the quarterback said during OTAs that was untrue.

Both parties instead focused on the fact that now recovered from his 2021 injuries, Lance has felt great and is able to throw more accurately and efficiently.

As a rookie, Lance injured the index finger on his throwing hand which affected his ability to finish his throwing motion like he had in the past. Lance described how he needed to find a new way to throw passes without suffering in inordinate amount of pain or exacerbating the injury.

"I think the finger for me was the biggest thing just as far as throwing the ball," Lance said during OTAs. "I kind of had to learn how to throw the ball differently without using my pointer finger I guess just because of where it was at throughout the year. But now, I feel like I’m in a great spot health-wise and throwing the ball well and I feel really good.”

Based on Aiyuk's video, Lance indeed does appear to be throwing the ball well.

And it's evident his teammates think so, too.
