49ers snap count: Emmanuel Sanders sees plenty of action in team debut

SANTA CLARA -- 49ers wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders is under contract only for the remainder of the season, so they did not waste any time getting some return on their investment.

Sanders played 55 of the 49ers’ 67 offensive snaps in San Francisco's 51-13 win over the Carolina Panthers on Sunday at Levi’s Stadium.

The 32-year-old played virtually every snap until the 49ers began resting their main contributors in the fourth quarter with the victory already in hand.

The 49ers acquired Sanders just five days before the game in a trade with the Denver Broncos. Sanders and a fifth-round pick came to the 49ers in exchange for selections in the third and fourth rounds of the 2020 NFL Draft.

“I wasn’t surprised,” Sanders said of his full workload. “All week in practice our receivers coach Wes [Welker] was telling me that they will let me play as much as I feel like I can play.

“I didn’t feel like coming out of the game. That is what I am used to. I am looking forward to watching the film to see if I had any mental errors. But as right now in my head I can’t think of any. I am proud of myself.”

The blowout victory enabled the 49ers to give some game action to players who would ordinarily only see time on special teams. Offensive linemen Laken Tomlinson, Daniel Brunskill and Justin Skule were the only offensive or defensive players to not get a break.
