49ers cornerback Richard Sherman spoke to NBC Sports Bay Area’s Matt Maiocco about his impending free agency, and explains why he doesn’t expect to be back with San Francisco next season.

Second-year cornerback Tim Harris Jr., a seventh-round pick in 2019, is in line to make his NFL debut on Monday night against the Buffalo Bills.

The 49ers activated Harris from the practice for the crucial Week 13 game after the club placed defensive backs Jamar Taylor and Ken Webster on injured reserve.

Taylor sustained a season-ending torn ACL, while Webster is out with a torn hamstring.

Harris and fourth-year player Ahkello Witherspoon are likely to be active to participate on special teams in the 49ers’ game at Glendale, Arizona. Harris will wear No. 35 in the game.

Richard Sherman and Jason Verrett will start at the cornerback positions. Emmanuel Moseley’s status as the team’s nickel back is in question, as he is nursing a hamstring injury. Safety Jimmie Ward or backup cornerback Dontae Johnson could be next in line to play nickel back.

Four defensive tackles 49ers could target in 2025 NFL Draft

Why 49ers are unlikely to trade Aiyuk this offseason, per Schefter

Harris (6-foot-1, 205 pounds) was selected with the No. 198 pick in last year’s draft. He appeared in 35 games over six seasons of his injury-plagued college career at Virginia.

He was placed on injured reserve in August of his rookie season with the 49ers due to a groin injury.

After being cut before the start of this season, Harris landed on injured reserve on Sept. 16 with a calf injury. He was activated to resume his duties on the practice squad on Oct. 7.

Harris becomes the 19th player who has spent time on a practice squad this season to suit up for the 49ers, a list that includes Webster, whom the 49ers signed early in the season off the Miami Dolphins’ practice squad.
