The XFL’s Seattle Dragons announced their 52-man roster Monday.
The Dragons are coached by Jim Zorn, and Mike Riley serves as OC. Headlining the roster are QB B.J. Daniels, RB Kenneth Farrow, RB Trey Williams, WR Kasen Williams, WR Keenan Reynolds, DE Jacquies Smith, and K Garrett Hartley. Daniels never made it as an NFL quarterback after playing at South Florida. Kasen Williams dominated one preseason with the Seahawks, but speed limitations kept him off a roster. Hartley is the former Saints’ kicker who kicked for the 2009 Super Bowl champs.

49ers agreed to terms with No. 237 overall pick QB B.J. Daniels on a four-year contract.
Daniels was drafted as a “quarterback,” but will also get reps at running back, receiver and returner. An ineffective passer in the Big East, Daniels is not an elite runner. He’s a roster longshot for a loaded 49ers team that has 11 draft picks to evaluate.
  • FA Quarterback #35
Seventh-round QB B.J. Daniels took snaps at running back and fielded punts at 49ers rookie minicamp.
The 49ers are still listing Daniels as a quarterback, but he’s well aware his passing “ability” isn’t going to earn him a roster spot. “Whatever’s asked of me to do, that’s what I’m going to do,” Daniels said. Unsigned rookie QB Collin Klein would be wise to adopt that credo. Proving he can do more than hold a clipboard at the NFL level could give Daniels a leg up on Scott Tolzien for No. 3 duties.
  • FA Quarterback #35
49ers selected USF QB B.J. Daniels with the No. 237 overall pick.
Daniels will likely move to running back or receiver. We are surprised to found out that Daniels is draft eligible. He started 42 games while in college and rushed for 2,068 yards and 25 touchdowns on 526 attempts.
  • FA Quarterback #35
49ers seventh-round pick QB B.J. Daniels is expected to get reps at running back, receiver and returner in addition to quarterback.
It’s hardly a surprise, as Daniels isn’t known for his passing. He has no shot at making it as an NFL quarterback. A flier for a 49ers team that was brimming with draft picks, Daniels is a roster long-shot.
  • FA Quarterback #35
    49ers waived QB B.J. Daniels.
It’s surprising the passing-deficient rookie made it this long on the active roster. The 49ers are reportedly signing John Skelton as their new No. 3 quarterback behind Colin Kaepernick and Colt McCoy. They will presumably try to stash Daniels on the practice squad. He was a seventh-round pick in April’s draft.
  • FA Quarterback #35
Seahawks claimed QB B.J. Daniels off waivers from the 49ers.
Daniels was waived on Tuesday after spending the first four weeks on the 49ers’ active roster. He was a seventh-round pick in April and will now serve as Seattle’s No. 3 quarterback. The Seahawks are likely just pulling him in for intel on the division rival Niners. Daniels won’t be active on game days. The 49ers had planned to stash Daniels on the practice squad Wednesday.
  • FA Quarterback #35
Coach Jim Harbaugh announced rookie QB B.J. Daniels’ practice reps will be increased this week so he’s on equal footing with Colt McCoy and Scott Tolzien.
In other words, Daniels is being given a legitimate chance to win primary backup duties behind Colin Kaepernick. Although Daniels took two sacks in Friday’s preseason game against the Chiefs, he completed 67 percent of his nine pass attempts and threw a 14-yard TD strike to Chuck Jacobs. Under QB mastermind Harbaugh, Daniels is now worth grabbing in all deep Dynasty leagues.

CSN Bay Area’s Matt Maiocco believes seventh-round QB B.J. Daniels has a “legitimate chance” to open the season as the 49ers’ No. 2 quarterback.
Daniels has the biggest arm of the 49ers’ backups, and he’s done nothing to disappoint this summer. The dual-threat quarterback didn’t play in the preseason opener, but completed 6-of-9 passes for 72 yards and a touchdown in Friday night’s game. He also ran for 13 yards on four rushes. Colt McCoy and Scott Tolzien have combined to throw three interceptions and no scores.
  • FA Quarterback #35
Seahawks signed QB B.J. Daniels to a reserve/future contract.
Daniels was not amongst the Seahawks’ initial wave of futures signings on Wednesday. The No. 217 pick of last spring’s draft, Daniels does not have NFL-level passing ability. He’ll compete for a spot on the 53-man roster as a gadget player/special teamer.
