The Nets have requested waivers on Armoni Brooks.
Brooks hasn’t played much of a role in the NBA this year and has spent the majority of his time in the G-League. He will likely continue to play in the G-League, unless he finds a new squad to give him a two-way deal. The Nets’ roster now stands at 17 players, including two two-way players.

Armoni Brooks came off the bench and finished with 17 points (6-for-7 FGs), two rebounds and five triples in a 109-105 win over the Heat on Wednesday.
Brooks came out of nowhere on Wednesday and played a crucial role in helping Brooklyn secure the win. He provided five triples in just 16 minutes off the bench and had a plus/minus of +30. He stepped up with Spencer Dinwiddie and Dennis Smith Jr. out, but it’s hard to imagine him having another game like this. Unless he does this again, leave him on the waiver wire. Mikal Bridges led the team with a 21/7/5 line. Dorian Finney-Smith continued his strong play with 15 points. Cam Thomas cooled off and scored just 13 points on 4-for-19 shooting. Whether the shots are going in or not, he’s not going to stop shooting. Lonnie Walker had a strong game off the bench with a 17/3/4/3 line in 25 minutes. If Dinwiddie remains out, he should be considered as a streaming option. Trendon Watford added 11 points off the bench.
  • BKN Shooting Guard #4
Lonnie Walker exited Thursday’s win over Maccabi Ra’Anana after suffering a right wrist contusion.
Walker was on a heater before the injury, shooting 5-of-6 from the field and recording a stat line of 12 points, one rebound, two assists, one steal, and two 3-pointers. Signed by the Nets to a one-year deal in July, Walker is considered day-to-day moving forward. Should he have to miss any of Brooklyn’s remaining preseason action, this would free up additional minutes for Armoni Brooks, who is looking to guarantee himself a roster spot, whether that’s with the Nets or another NBA team.
  • BKN Shooting Guard #32
The Nets have signed Armoni Brooks to a two-way contract.
After performing well for the Nets’ Summer League team in Las Vegas, Brooks has been rewarded with a two-way contract. While he has appeared in 74 NBA games, Brooks spent all of last season in the G League with the College Park Skyhawks. While he’s capable of providing 3-point shooting, the majority of Brooks’ minutes are likely to come with the Nets’ G League affiliate next season.
  • NBA Shooting Guard #32
Armoni Brooks shot 5-of-9 from three in Sunday’s 102-99 loss to the Cavaliers, scoring 22 points (8-of-15 FGs, 1-of-1 FTs) with three rebounds and one assist in 35 minutes.
Brooks had a good afternoon shooting the ball, with his triple in the final seconds of regulation forcing overtime. While the veteran guard’s had some NBA opportunities in the past, he’s looking to lock down either a guaranteed contract or training camp invitation. Sunday’s performance was a nice final impression to make on league decision-makers, whether it’s the Nets or another team.
  • BKN Point Guard #1
Kennedy Chandler accounted for 16 points (7-of-16 FGs, 2-of-3 FTs), five rebounds, three assists, one steal, and one blocked shot in 29 minutes in Friday’s 101-97 loss to Cleveland.
Waived by the Grizzlies on the penultimate day of the regular season, Chandler is looking to catch on with another NBA team. He started Friday’s game for the Nets and was solid, shooting 50% from two and finishing as one of six Nets in double figures. Fellow starter Armoni Brooks finds himself in a similar situation, and he finished the loss with 17 points, six rebounds, two assists, one steal, and five 3-pointers in 30 minutes. Neither Brooks nor Chandler should be considered a fantasy asset, as both have work to do to earn a roster spot for next season.
  • FA Point Guard #13
The Hawks announced on Sunday they are requesting waivers on Armoni Brooks, Malik Ellison, Tyson Etienne and Chris Silva.
A lot of teams are about to start trimming their training camp rosters in preparation for the regular season. Brooks is the most surprising name on this list but the Hawks aren’t exactly lacking for guard depth. The Hawks are down to 16 players, meaning they can stand pat for the regular season if they so choose.

The Atlanta Hawks announced on Twitter that they’ve signed Armoni Brooks to a deal.
Brooks played on a few 10-day contracts last season before earning a two-year deal with the Raptors. However, he was waived in July, allowing Atlanta to scoop him up. The terms of the deal weren’t disclosed, but it’s very possible that this is just a training camp deal.

  • FA Point Guard #13
The Raptors have waived Armoni Brooks.
Brooks spent 13 games with the Raptors last season on a few 10-day deals, and he earned a two-way contract at the end of the season, but he will now be searching for a new team. The Raptors waiving Brooks will save them some money and open up another spot for their training camp roster.

  • HOU Point Guard #5
Fred VanVleet (right knee soreness) is not listed on the injury report for Sunday’s game against the Knicks.
VanVleet hasn’t played since they beat the Hawks on Tuesday, and he shot incredibly poorly in that game. The Raptors likely want to get him some minutes before the postseason, but there’s a chance they really limit how much he plays. Armoni Brooks and Malachi Flynn should back him up in the backcourt.
