Morris entered last season as the Raiders’ starting center. He’s no longer needed with rookie Jared Veldheer taking over. Waters was a camp leg used to keep Sebastian Janikowski and Shane Lechler fresh.

Says Lawton, “I’m just not getting any reps. If they were trying to bring me back in slowly, I would be getting some. But I am not getting any. I am getting hosed.” Lawton will already miss the first two games of the season due to a suspension, and all indications are that he won’t get a roster spot. Marcel Reece, Alex Daniels, and Manase Tonga are competing for the job.

Daniels’ injury was never disclosed. The Raiders liked his potential as a versatile end/fullback, so he may be signed to the practice squad later on.

The injury is unknown. Daniels was tried at fullback in camp, but the move didn’t appear to work out. He may return in 2011 camp to push for a job.

Daniels presumably violated the league’s policy on banned substances. The out-of-work special teamer will have a hard time finding a job late in the season.

They’ll be carried on the 80-man offseason roster. The 75th overall pick in the 2009 draft, Brewster is the most heralded prospect of the group, though he didn’t generate any interest on Dallas’ practice squad all year.

Both players were dealing with ankle injuries. Daniels has been a man without a position, trying defensive end and fullback in Oakland before landing in Dallas. Weaver was undrafted out of Michigan State.
