Diamondbacks signed OF Albert Almora to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.
The 29-year-old outfielder sat out the 2023 campaign after being released by the Reds following the conclusion of the 2022 season. He resurfaced in the Puerto Rican Winter League this year, where he slashed an underwhelming .216/.286/.284 with zero homers, 12 RBI and a 27/10 K/BB ratio over 148 plate appearances. Defense has always been his calling card, but the Diamondbacks are already flush with stellar defensive outfielders.

Reds released OF Albert Almora Jr.
Almora Jr. went unclaimed on waivers after being designated for assignment last Friday and will test the free agent waters rather than head to Triple-A Louisville. The 28-year-old remains an excellent defensive outfielder, but hit just .223/.282/.349 with five home runs across 235 plate appearances this season for the Reds.

Reds designated OF Albert Almora for assignment.
Just three days after being activated from the injured list, Almora gets the boot off of the Reds 40-man roster to make room for Matt Reynolds who is returning from the injured list. Almora, 28, hit just .223/.282/.349 with five homers, 29 RBI and a 46/17 K/BB ratio across 235 plate appearances with the Reds this season. Given his defensive prowess, there’s a chance that another club could be willing to take a chance on waivers.

Albert Almora doubled twice and drove in two runs while going 3-for-4 Monday in a victory over the Marlins.
Almora doubled in two runs in the second inning off an otherwise effective Jesús Luzardo. The former Cub also singled. A solid game for Almora after coming off the COVID-19 list, but he’s not someone you can trust in fantasy formats.
