  • FA Head Coach

Rivera, 62, last coached with the Commanders in 2023 and “led” the team to a 4-13 record. He did coach the Panthers to a Super Bowl and he’s widely regarded as a quality defensive mind. The Jets are also expected to complete an interview with former head coach Rex Ryan, and completed an interview with Louis Riddick for their open general manager job.
  • PHI Quarterback #1
No surprise here. Hurts and Kenny Pickett (ribs) were both unable to practice again Thursday, and it seems likely that Hurts will be out with Pickett more of a game-time call for a game that has no significance for the Eagles against the Giants in Week 18. It seems likely that Hurts will be able to go in the playoff bout against either the Packers or Commanders, however.
  • NYG Wide Receiver #1
Nabers dealt with a toe injury heading into Week 17 against the Colts, only to go nuclear on Sunday with a line of 7-171-1 on eight targets. This is an injury he’s already played through, meaning we’d expect him to suit up for the season-finale, barring any kind a setback. Nabers has caught 104 passes for 1,140 yards and six touchdowns this season and is in a race with Raiders tight end Brock Bowers to set the rookie receptions record. Bowers currently holds the record with 108 receptions on the year and will also look to add to his total in Week 18 against the Chargers.
  • CHI Wide Receiver #15
After being listed as an estimated DNP on Wednesday, Odunze was a DNP on Thursday due to an illness. We don’t often see players miss games due to illnesses, so we’ll see where things stand on Friday when the team releases its final report. Odunze has caught 52 passes for 716 yards and three touchdowns in his rookie campaign and will look to end the season on a high note against the Packers if he’s active.
  • DAL Head Coach
According to Fowler, part of this belief stems from what those in the industry consider to be “a weak candidate pool.” Despite the Cowboys’ shortcomings this season, the team has fought its way to a 7-9 season and has a chance to pick up one more win with a victory over the Commanders in Week 18. Under backup quarterback Cooper Rush the Cowboys are 4-4 with notable wins over the Commanders and Buccaneers. Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said after the team’s Week 16 win over the Buccaneers that he is “real, real proud” of the way the team has played for McCarthy amidst a lost season. McCarthy is on the final year of his contract, meaning his return would come with a new deal. It’s unlikely the Cowboys would rush to a decision on the long-time head coach, but we’ll see just how quickly things move when their season concludes on Sunday.
  • CIN Wide Receiver #5
Higgins was limited in practice throughout the week and will officially carry a questionable tag into the weekend. Fresh off a three-touchdown performance in Week 17 against the Broncos, Higgins should be good to go on Saturday, barring any setbacks in a game that’s a must-win for the Bengals if they hope to have any chance of sneaking into the playoffs.
  • CLE Running Back #34
Ford’s season ends with a rushing line of 104-565-3 and a receiving line of 37-225-0 on 43 targets. He averaged a career-best 5.4 YPC and would have been on to replicate his 2023 numbers before Nick Chubb returned in Week 7 and handled most of the team’s rush attempts until a foot injury he suffered in Week 15 ended his season. Ford is under contract through next season and could have a chance at another premiere role depending on how Chubb’s recovery goes and who else the Browns decide to bring in during the offseason.
  • CLE Tight End #85
Njoku’s production took a massive step back in 2024 after Joe Flacco helped him reach new heights in 2023. Injuries didn’t help the situation, as Njoku was held to just 11 games this season, but his 7.9 YPR marked a new low, while his 505 yards were his fewest since 2021. Njoku will now have all offseason to get right, and will hopefully benefit from an upgrade at quarterback with Deshaun Watson’s future as a starter firmly in doubt. Now ruled out for Week 18, Jordan Akins will likely draw the start in the Browns’ season-finale.
  • GB Wide Receiver #9
ESPN’s Rob Demovsky reports Watson “went through stretch but then did not go outside for the beginning of practice.” Assuming he’s not practicing, this would mark two straight DNPs for Watson, who is on the wrong side of suiting up for Week 18 against the Bears. Watson also missed last week’s game. It wouldn’t be surprising if the Packers opted to play it safe with him given that their spot in the NFC playoffs is already secured.
  • CIN Running Back #30
Rookie right tackle Amarius Mims will also be a game-time decision. When asked about the possibility of both players playing in the pivotal Week 18 matchup, head coach Zac Taylor said, “We’ll see.” It’s about what we’d expect from Taylor, who needs all hands on deck Saturday if he and the Bengals hope to sneak into the playoffs after a disappointing 2024. Brown was a DNP in all three practices this week, but it sounds like the Bengals will give him up until inactives are announced to decide whether or not he’ll play or if Khalil Herbert will serve as the team’s RB1 for the week.
