According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, DeMar DeRozan is headed to Sacramento via sign-and-trade, with Chicago receiving Harrison Barnes, Chris Duarte, two second-round picks, and cash.

DeRozan was one of the top remaining free agents on the board, and there were multiple reports of Sacramento’s interest in signing him. They’ve gotten the deal done via sign-and-trade, with the veteran wing due to make $74 million over three years. DeRozan will slide seamlessly into the spot left vacant by Barnes and should once again threaten top 50 fantasy value in 2024-25. However, his ceiling is limited due to the lack of 3-point production. DeRozan’s reliance on the mid-range could boost the 3-point production of Keegan Murray, who has played well in his first two NBA seasons.
Franz Wagner

ORL Small Forward #22

ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reports that Franz Wagner has agreed to a $224 million rookie max extension to remain with the Magic through the 2029-30 season.

Woj notes that the deal could be worth as much as $269 million if Wagner is selected to an All-NBA team. The Michigan product averaged career highs across the board with19.7 points, 5.3 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 1.1 steals across 72 appearances, and he’s now locked in as one of Orlando’s core players for what looks to be a bright future after the success of last season.
Buddy Hield

GSW Shooting Guard #17

The Athletic’s Shams Charania reports that the Warriors have traded a 2031 second-round pick (via Dallas) in a sign-and-trade deal to acquire Buddy Hield from the 76ers.

Shams notes that Hield and new teammate Steph Curry are second and first respectively in most made three-pointers over the last five seasons. Hield is one of only six players in NBA history to average at least 3.0 triples per contest, and at 1,924 career triples made, Hield could become just the 17th player in league history to reach 2,000 career three-pointers. Hield’s arrival in the Bay could cut into the playing time of Brandin Podziemski and De’Anthony Melton, but with Andrew Wiggins likely out the door, there could be room for all three players to see meaningful rotational roles. Back in Philly, Hield’s departure opens up more opportunities for newcomer Eric Gordon and rookie Jared McCain.
LeBron James

LAL Small Forward #23

LeBron James intends to re-sign with the Lakers on a two-year, $104 million deal with a player option after year one, per The Athletic’s Shams Charania.

In an unsurprising move, LeBron will be back with LA for at least two more seasons, unless he chooses to opt out after one year. He’ll have his son on his team and his podcast co-host at head coach, but nothing should change too much in fantasy. James will be 41 by the time this contract is up, so there is a chance that this is his final one. LeBron also has a no-trade clause, though it was unlikely that they dealt him anyway.
Jayson Tatum

BOS Small Forward #0

According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, Jayson Tatum and the Celtics are finalizing a five-year, $314 million deal that will run through the 2029-30 season.

This was expected, as the Celtics viewed inking Tatum and Derrick White to extensions as an offseason priority. White reportedly agreed to his deal on Monday morning, with Tatum following suit a few hours later. While he fell short of providing first-round fantasy value this season, that was a byproduct of the Celtics adding Jrue Holiday and Kristaps Porzingis to the roster. With the latter due to miss 5-6 months after undergoing left leg surgery, Tatum’s chances of offering first-round value next season have increased. As for the contract, it’s the largest in NBA history and includes a player option (approx. $71.5 million in 2029-30) and a trade kicker.
Klay Thompson

DAL Shooting Guard #11

Klay Thompson intends to join Dallas on a three-year, $50 million deal, which will happen to a multi-team sign-and trade that will also send Josh Green to Charlotte, per ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

Thompson reportedly had four year offers that were worth more money, but he took a pay cut to try and win a championship with the Mavs. His departure will open up a starting spot that will likely be filled by second-year guard Brandin Podziemski, barring more moves by the Warriors. Thompson should fill out the starting forward spot opposite PJ Washington, which means that Naji Marshall will likely fill a reserve role behind them. Green will have a chance to see big minutes for the Hornets next season, though his fantasy upside will be limited. As part of the sign-and-trade, the Mavericks have sent two future second-round picks to the Warriors.
Tyrese Maxey

PHI Point Guard #0

Tyrese Maxey has agreed in principle to a five-year, $204 million extension with the 76ers, per ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

After a breakout season, the 76ers have locked up their star point guard for the foreseeable future. This level of extension was previously rumored and shouldn’t come as a surprise. They have locked up a trio of Joel Embiid, Paul George and Maxey for the next few seasons, and they’ll be one of the teams that looks to dethrone the Celtics this season.
Paul George

PHI Small Forward #13

ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reports that Paul George will join the 76ers on a four-year, $212 million deal.

Free agency’s next big domino has fallen, as the two-way star heads East to form a new “Big 3" with Tyrese Maxey and Joel Embiid. George’s arrival will likely mean less touches for Tyrese Maxey and Kelly Oubre (who just re-signed with Philadelphia on a two-year deal). George’s departure from Los Angeles means the newly-signed Derrick Jones Jr. should see plenty of minutes, and Terance Mann could see more opportunities as a scorer and playmaker. George’s biggest concern as a Clipper was availability, but he appeared in 74 games last season and posted averages of 22.6 points, 5.2 rebounds, 3.5 assists, 1.5 steals and 3.3 triples.
Cade Cunningham

DET Point Guard #2

Shams Charania of The Athletic reports that Cade Cunningham will sign a five-year, $226 million rookie extension with the Pistons.

Cunningham appeared in only 12 games in his second season due to a heel injury, but he bounced back and appeared in 62 games in 2023-24. Cunningham averaged 22.7 points, 4.3 rebounds, 7.5 assists and 1.9 three-pointers, shooting 44.9% from the floor, 86.9% from the charity stripe and 35.5% from beyond the arc. Aside from the rebounds, the other numbers and the percentages were career highs for the Oklahoma State product. Availability will be a concern for Cunningham, but when healthy, he’s a stat-stuffer with early-round upside in fantasy hoops.
Klay Thompson

GSW Shooting Guard #11

The Athletic’s Shams Charania reports that Klay Thompson will leave the Warriors in free agency.

Shams notes that the two sides will work on sign-and-trade options. It’s not a surprising update, but we’ve finally received confirmation that Thompson will not be a Warrior after 13 seasons and four rings with the franchise that drafted him.
