Benge has his best major league game to date for a second time in a week. The first was when he homered twice against the Mariners on Tuesday. This one was probably more fulfilling, since it came in a victory. It raised his average from .248 to .265 and his OPS from .682 to .733. Benge’s balls in play ranged from 94.9 mph to 106.4 mph, which produced a 389-foot homer. The triple, on a grounder that made it into the right field corner, was his first as a major leaguer.

McGonigle got the Tigers on the board and tied the score at a run apiece in the fourth inning as he clobbered a Luis Castillo slider for a 420-foot (109.4-mph EV) solo shot to right field. He couldn’t come through when the Tigers needed him in the seventh though, as he flew out to shallow left field with the potential tying run on third base with only one out. He quickly atoned for that in the ninth as he smacked a two-out, two-run single into right field off of Mariners’ closer Andrés Muñoz to deliver a walk-off victory. The rookie infielder is now slashing .291/.394/.426 with four homers, 24 RBI and nine stolen bases on the season.

Bibee put together his best start of the season on Saturday, holding the Rangers scoreless over eight innings. He scattered three hits and two walks, tossing an efficient 54 of 87 pitches for strikes. He struck out three. The 27-year-old right-hander knocks a half run from his ERA, coming into the day with a 4.57 mark and ending with a 4.09 with a 1.23 WHIP and a 63/24 K/BB ratio across 77 innings. He’ll look to keep it going against the Tigers in Cleveland on Friday.

The Yankees obviously didn’t have much warning about this or they wouldn’t have sent down J.C. Escarra after Friday’s game. In fact, Aaron Boone was asked about Wells during his pregame availability tonight and said nothing about it. Escarra figures to face righties, with Ali Sánchez getting the call against lefties, until Wells returns.

Crow-Armstrong kept the Cubs alive, with his second homer tying things up with two outs in the bottom of the ninth. After a scoreless top of the 10th, the Cubs won the game right away on a Michael Busch single and an error in the bottom of the inning. Automatic runner Dansby Swanson was going to be held at third on the shot to right, but Victor Bericoto booted the ball to allow Swanson to score. PCA now has four homers in his last four games and an 11-game hitting streak. He’s up to .259/.343/.449 for the season.

Miller authored his strongest performance of the season, falling just short of posting his first double-digit strikeout performance since last September 11. He generated an eye-popping 16 swinging strikes, including nine on his fastball alone, and allowed just three baserunners. The 27-year-old righty has been phenomenal since coming off the injured list last month, forging a microscopic 1.33 ERA, 0.78 WHIP and 29/5 K/BB ratio across 27 innings. He’ll try to keep the momentum going when he faces the Orioles on Thursday in his next start.

Astros manager Joe Espada told reporters Brown will need at least one additional tune-up before returning to the club’s rotation in mid-June. The 27-year-old fantasy ace threw just 57 pitches over 4 1/3 innings during his latest rehab outing earlier this week, so it makes sense for him to continue building up his pitch count before returning to Houston’s rotation.

Greene remains without a definitive return timetable at this juncture in his rehabilitation from arthroscopic surgery to remove bone chips and loose bodies from his pitching elbow back in early March. However, he’s progressed to throwing bullpen sessions and could potentially make it back to Cincinnati’s rotation sometime around late June or early July. He’ll need a handful of rehab starts before he’s ready to make his season debut. There should be a clearer timeline once he’s cleared to make his first rehab start.

Garcia, who came off the bench to pinch-hit during Friday’s series opener, returns to Kansas City’s lineup in the cleanup spot following a six-game absence due to a right hamstring strain that he suffered last weekend. The 26-year-old infielder somehow managed to a trip to the injured list, but he’ll likely be limited to DH for a couple days, if not longer. It’s fair to question how the Royals handled the situation, but Garcia appears unlikely to miss any additional time.

Sasaki finally had his best stuff on display on Friday, holding the Angels scoreless over seven innings. He allowed just two hits and two walks while generating an impressive 17 whiffs to collect 10 strikeouts. It was by far the best regular-season start of Sasaki’s career. The 24-year-old right-hander seems to be putting things together, rewarding the Dodgers’ faith in him with a 1.48 ERA over his last four starts. Sasaki will take a 4.03 ERA, 1.26 WHIP, and a 60/21 K/BB ratio across 58 innings into a start against the White Sox in Chicago next Friday.
