It’s only October, but it’s shaping up to be an all-time Heisman race.

  • JAX Tight End #17
Engram went down with the hamstring injury during pre-game warmups ahead in Week 2. This is his first time practicing since he suffered the injury. A limited session to open the week is a good sign for Engram’s availability, but he isn’t out of the woods yet. If he makes it to Sunday without any setbacks, Engram will rank as a volume-based TE1 for his matchup with the Colts.
  • JAX Running Back #1
Etienne suffered a shoulder injury in the first half of the Jags’ loss to the Texans and was listed as questionable to return. He missed a few snaps but was back on the field rather quickly. A limited session to open the week suggests he will have no issues suiting up for Week 5. With Tank Bigsby looking better and taking more work by the week, Etienne is dangerously close to falling out of the RB2 ranks.
  • IND Running Back #28
Taylor suffered a high-ankle sprain in the Colts’ Week 4 win over the Steelers. His absence from practice isn’t a surprise and he is likely to miss multiple weeks with the ankle injury. Trey Sermon is the next man up for Indy. He should get the bulk of the carries with Tyler Goodson pitching in on passing downs. Sermon should be added in all formats and will rank as a high-risk RB3 once Taylor is ruled out.
  • MIA Linebacker #15
Phillips relayed the news via an Instagram post. He did not get into specific details on the nature of the injury but did say he will undergo reconstructive surgery on his knee. It’s the second year in a row that has ended with an injury for Phillips. He suffered a torn Achilles late in the 2023 season. This is yet another blow to a Miami roster that has already lost multiple players to long-term injuries.
  • HOU Running Back #28
Mixon made a push to play last week and head coach DeMeco Ryans called him “day to day” on Monday. He still has a chance to return to practice and suit up for Week 5, but another week of Cam Akers as the starter is still on the table. Akers ran 13 times for 53 yards in Week 4 but didn’t catch a pass or find the end zone. He would be a low-end RB3 for Week 5 if Mixon can’t suit up and Dameon Pierce remains out.
  • CAR Wide Receiver #5
Head coach Dave Canales told reporters he “absolutely” expects Johnson to play this week. Johnson entered his Week 4 game versus the Bengals with a groin injury but played through the issue to another strong fantasy performance. He caught seven passes for 83 yards and a touchdown. Johnson appeared to tweak the groin injury in the third quarter but his touchdown came later in the game. The ankle issue is new, though Johnson is clearly no stranger to playing through injuries. He looks likely to do so again this week.
  • MIN Tight End #87
That opens Hockenson’s practice window, giving him three weeks to be officially activated from injured reserve. The Vikings are traveling to London for their Week 5 matchup with the Jets. Hockenson will practice for the first time this year after the team arrives in London. He is still recovering from the torn ACL he suffered in Week 16 of the 2023 season but appears to be progressing quickly. Previous reports have Week 7 as a rough estimate for his return.
  • HOU Wide Receiver #3
Dell didn’t practice at all last week before being ruled out, so even a limited session on Wednesday is a step in the right direction. Dell had 17 targets and five carries through three games but no touchdowns and one gain of over 20 yards. Dell could see a reduced workload in his first game back from the chest injury, making him a risky fantasy bet even if he is cleared for action.
  • NYG Running Back #26
This is the first we’re hearing about Singletary’s groin issue. He’s coming off a down game against Dallas, one of the NFL’s worst rush defenses. Singletary has functioned as one of the league’s only true workhorse running backs over the season’s first month. Tyrone Tracy and Eric Gray would likely split the workload in Week 5 against the Seahawks if Singletary is out.
  • IND Quarterback #5
Richardson is reportedly feeling better following his Week 4 oblique injury against the Steelers but sat out practice to start the week. Joe Flacco would get the call for the Colts if Richardson can’t practice on Thursday and Friday ahead of the team’s Week 5 matchup with the Jaguars. Flacco would be a boon for Josh Downs and Michael Pittman.
