Chris Olave

NO Wide Receiver #12

NewOrleans.Football’s Nick Underhill reports Chris Olave (hamstring) will be active for Week 4 against the Falcons.

Olave has been trending toward playing despite suffering a hamstring issue in practice on Friday. Both he and Alvin Kamara are good to go for Week 4. The injury makes Olave a riskier bet for fantasy purposes, but he is still the No. 1 receiver on a team with an explosive ceiling. Fantasy managers should still bet on Olave as a high-upside WR2 versus the Falcons this week.
Christian McCaffrey

SF Running Back #23

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports Christian McCaffrey (Achilles) is expected to return “at least by early November.”

McCaffrey went to Germany for what Rapoport said was “similar to a PRP treatment.” He noted that the treatment seemingly went well and McCaffrey has a chance to start running on grass this week. McCaffrey is currently on injured reserve and will be eligible to return by Week 6. The 49ers get their bye in Week 9 and then play their first game of November the following week. That looks like the most realistic date for McCaffrey’s return. For now, Jordan Mason will dominate the backfield touches and projects as a weekly RB1.
Joe Mixon

HOU Running Back #28

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport believes Joe Mixon (ankle) has “an uphill climb” to play in Week 4 against the Jaguars.

Per Rapoport, Mixon has been working hard to make it back for Week 4 but is still considered a game-time decision. It obviously sounds like the veteran back will be held out one more week, but fantasy managers counting on Cam Akers for some cheap running back touches will want to stay tuned for Houston’s inactives. Dameon Pierce is out again this week, meaning Akers would see the bulk of the carries for Houston if Mixon can’t go. Assuming Mixon is ruled out, Akers will project for RB3 numbers versus the Jags.
Nick Chubb

CLE Running Back #24

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports Nick Chubb (knee) is expected to start practicing this week.

Chubb began the year on the PUP list while recovering from the torn ACL he suffered early in the 2023 season. The gruesome knee injury required multiple surgeries in the offseason. Once Chubb has his practice window opened, he will be able to practice with the team for three weeks before the Browns have to activate him. That still puts us a few weeks out from his 2024 debut, but a return to practice this early in the year is a good sign for his season-long outlook.
Davante Adams

LV Wide Receiver #17

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports Davante Adams (hamstring) is expected to be sidelined on a “week-to-week basis.”

Adams suffered a hamstring injury in practice on Thursday. It looked like nothing when the team listed him as a limited participant on the practice report, but a Friday DNP before being ruled out made it clear that this could be a long-term issue. Schefter noted that, despite the Raiders’ 1-2 start, the team is not currently considering trading Adams. Speculation came up last year that Vegas would look to move the superstar receiver, but they don’t have any interest in waving the white flag on their season just yet. In his absence, Brock Bowers will operate as the de facto No. 1 receiver and Jakobi Meyers will see a boost in target share as well. Bowers is a contender for the TE1 overall ranking this week while Meyers is a high-end WR3.
Alvin Kamara

NO Running Back #41

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports Alvin Kamara (hip/ribs) is expected to play in Week 4 against the Falcons.

Kamara missed Wednesday’s practice but was back on the field for two limited sessions before being listed as questionable. Head coach Dennis Allen told reporters earlier in the week that Kamara was dealing with a hip pointer on top of the rib injury. The veteran back has gotten off to a hot start this year and appears to be good to go for Week 4. He has 285 rushing yards and four touchdowns plus another 132 yards and an extra touchdown through the air. Kamara sits near the top of the RB1 ranks for his matchup with Atlanta.
Diontae Johnson

CAR Wide Receiver #5

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports Diontae Johnson (groin) is expected to play in Week 4 against the Bengals.

Johnson was a surprising addition to the injury report on Thursday. The team listed him as a DNP, but he told reporters that he held himself out of practice due to the condition of the field. He then told reporters he expected to play and returned to practice on Friday. It’s safe to say his absence on Thursday was precautionary. Johnson set a career-high in receiving yards in his first start with Andy Dalton last week, going for 122 yards on eight grabs. He was targeted 14 times and is set up for another high-volume game versus the Bengals this week.
Rachaad White

TB Running Back #1

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports Rachaad White (illness) is expected to play in Week 4 against the Eagles.

White was added to the injury report on Saturday with an illness. The team listed him as questionable. Per Schefter, White was dealing with food poisoning but is already feeling better. Bucky Irving, who is listed as questionable with a hamstring injury, is also expected to play. White has been giving up plenty of rushing work to Irving this year, but he is still the Bucs’ top option on passing downs and near the goal line. That will keep him in the RB2 ranks for Week 4.
Deebo Samuel Sr.

SF Wide Receiver #1

Jordan Schultz reports Deebo Samuel (calf, questionable) “plans to play” against the Patriots Sunday.

It’s a bit surprising with the 49ers operating as massive home favorites against perhaps the worst team in the league, but they are understandably leaving nothing to chance after last week’s Rams debacle. We still wouldn’t count our chickens until Deebo successfully completes his pre-game warmup. Even then, he could end up more of a snap-counted decoy. We’ll consider Samuel a risk/reward WR2 if he indeed manages to go. Unfortunately for fantasy managers hoping to have final word in the morning, the game has a 4:05 PM ET kickoff.
Chris Olave

NO Wide Receiver #12

ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reports Chris Olave (hamstring, questionable) is a game-time decision for Sunday’s contest against the Falcons.

Fowler claims “there is some optimism, but the team needs to monitor leading up to kickoff.” We suppose we’ll consider Olave genuinely questionable, but he’s gone from a top-12 option to a question mark on the WR2/3 borderline. His absence would maybe create a few more conventional looks for big-play specialist Rashid Shaheed, but the Saints have one of the league’s thinnest receiver corps. The Falcons and Saints thankfully kick off at 1PM ET, so we’ll have something resembling clarity before lineups lock.
