  • BAL Quarterback #8
Personalize your Rotoworld feed by favoriting players
Head coach John Harbaugh said Jackson’s absence on Wednesday was due to rest, but there won’t be any downplaying two straight missed practices with knee/back issues. Lamar and the Ravens get the Broncos in Week 9 and then have a quick turnaround to prepare for the Bengals on Thursday night in Week 10. We won’t press the panic alarm just yet, but Friday’s practice will prove very important for Jackson’s Week 9 availability.
  • CIN Wide Receiver #5
Bengals head coach Zac Taylor called Higgins day to day on Monday. Though he could return to practice and ultimately play on Sunday, a DNP to open the proceedings is a bad sign for his Week 9 availability. Andrei Iosivas ran a route on nearly every Joe Burrow dropback last week but did not catch a single pass. Mike Gesicki was the ancillary pass-catcher who stepped up in Higgins’ absence, reeling in seven balls for 73 yards. He will climb to the top of the TE2 rankings if Higgins is sidelined once again.
  • GB Running Back #8
Jacobs told reporters “I’ll be good game time” after the missed practice. Barring a setback, there’s nothing to see here. With Jordan Love either out or playing through a groin injury, the Packers will likely fall back on a run-heavy approach in Week 9 versus the Lions. Coming off a 25-carry game against the Jags, Jacobs is in for another RB1 workload this week.
  • DET Quarterback #16
Goff didn’t sound concerned when talking to reporters after the practice and noted that he expects to return to practice on Thursday. He rolled his ankle while being sacked early in the Lions’ Week 8 win over Tennessee. Goff managed to play through the issue despite limping on the field at times and being checked out by trainers between drives. He should be good to go by the end of the week, albeit with a bit less mobility in his game for Week 9.
  • BAL Quarterback #8
Jackson was held out of Wednesday’s practice, but Harbaugh quickly quelled any injury fears after practice. Jackson will be good to go for his Week 9 game versus the Broncos. Despite the difficult matchup, Lamar will remain the QB1 overall in the Week 9 ranks.
  • SEA Wide Receiver #14
Per The Athletic’s Michael-Shawn Dugar, head coach Mike Macdonald said he remains optimistic that Metcalf will suit up on Sunday. Metcalf suffered a Grade 1 MCL sprain in Week 7 and missed the following week. This situation remains a waiting game for fantasy managers hoping to get Metcalf back this week. The star receiver will likely need to log at least one limited practice before returning. If he can’t go, Jaxon Smith-Njigba will continue to operate as a low-ceiling No. 1 receiver for Geno Smith.
  • NO Quarterback #4
Per head coach Dennis Allen, Carr was on a pitch count at practice but did well and remains on track to play in Week 9 against the Panthers. He told reports earlier in the week that he was optimistic Carr will be able to return on Sunday. Allen also noted that Jake Haener will back him up. If all goes well, Carr will return to a high-end QB2 ranking versus a dreadful Carolina defense. Chris Olave will also vault to the top of the WR2 rankings after topping 100 yards for the first time this year in Week 8.
  • PHI Tight End #88
Goedert has been out since suffering the hamstring injury early in Week 6 versus the Browns. He has yet to return to practice and looks unlikely to suit up in Week 9. Backup Grant Calcaterra has taken his place in the lineup. He has four receptions for 63 yards in two starts.
  • CAR Quarterback #9
Andy Dalton is practicing in full, but the Panthers are being cautious with his return. He suffered a sprained thumb in a car crash last week, forcing the Panthers the turn to the previously benched Young. The former No. 1 overall pick threw for 224 yards, two touchdowns, and two interceptions. It was a rocky performance with a few more high points than usual but just as many mistakes. Canales said Young will make the start this week and the team will go from there, so it’s possible Dalton is back under center for Week 10. Young is not on the fantasy radar for his upcoming matchup with the Saints.
  • CAR Running Back #24
Brooks was limited in all three practices last week before being listed as doubtful. He remains on the PUP list as he works his way back from the torn ACL he suffered in his final season at Texas. The Athletic’s Joe Person previously speculated that Brooks could return in Week 9. Barring any setbacks, Brooks appears to be on track to make his debut on Sunday versus the Saints. Chuba Hubbard will presumably remain the starter, but Brooks will push him for touches out of the gate.
