Lions HC Dan Campbell said he considers Sam LaPorta as day-to-day with his ankle sprain.

LaPorta is reportedly dealing with a “low” ankle sprain, which is suffered in Week 3’s win over the Cardinals. The injury resulted in him being carted from the field, but he did eventually return to close things out on a limited basis. A day-to-day outlook is a positive one, but the real proof will be in the practice report, which drops on Wednesday. If LaPorta is unable to go in Week 4 against the Seahawks, Brock Wright will be tasked with replacing him.
Andy Dalton

CAR Quarterback #14

Panthers’ HC Dave Canales said, “Andy’s [Dalton] our quarterback. He gives us our best chance to win,” when asked about the team’s quarterback situation heading into Week 4.

Of course he is. In Week 3’s win over the Raiders, Dalton provided the Panthers something they haven’t seen since Week 3 of last season when he threw for 361-2-0 against the Seahawks — competent quarterback play. Dalton became the first quarterback on the season to throw for more than 300 yards and three touchdowns in a game while leading the Panthers to their first victory of the 2024 season. Dalton’s second start of the season comes in an exciting revenge game against the Bengals, who he spent the first nine years of his career with after they drafted him No. 35 overall in 2011.
Sam Darnold

MIN Quarterback #14

NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reports an MRI on Sam Darnold revealed he suffered a knee bruise in the Vikings’ Week 3 win over the Texans.

The MRI did not reveal any structural damage to Darnold’s knee, and the veteran quarterback is not expected to miss any time because of the injury. It’s the best news the Vikings and fantasy managers could hope for, as Darnold has gotten off to a roaring start in his first four games with the purple and gold. The former No. 3 overall pick has thrown for 657-8-2 in three games while completing 67.9 percent of his passes. It goes without saying, but Darnold, who has never thrown for more than 19 touchdowns in a season, is on pace for a career year if he can stay healthy and continue at this current trajectory. He gets his first taste of divisional action in Week 4 when the Vikings hit the road to take on the Packers.
Justin Herbert

LAC Quarterback #10

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports x-rays were negative on Justin Herbert’s ankle.

This is good news for Herbert, who limped off the field in the third quarter of Sunday’s loss to the Steelers and didn’t return to the field. Head coach Jim Harbaugh said after the game that the plan was to pull Herbert if he saw him limping during the game. Herbert was also spotted in a boot after the game, but said he didn’t think he did further damage to his ankle by playing on it. We’ll see where things go from here as the Chargers prepare for a Week 4 matchup against the Chiefs. If Herbert is unable to go, journeyman Taylor Heinicke would likely draw the start after replacing Herbert on Sunday.
Kyle Pitts

ATL Tight End #8

Kyle Pitts caught 2-of-5 targets for 59 yards in the Falcons’ Week 3 loss to the Chiefs.

50 of Pitts’ 59 yards came on a long reception in the second quarter. He would be tackled at the one, leading to a Bijan Robinson touchdown plunge on the next play. The rest of the game was spent failing to shake free from the Kansas City zone coverage, something we have grown accustomed to with the young tight end. Pitts could be asked to do more when the Falcons host the Saints in Week 4.
Drake London

ATL Wide Receiver #5

Drake London caught 6-of-9 targets for 67 yards and a touchdown in the Falcons’ Week 3 loss to the Chiefs.

London played his X-type wide receiver role well against a suffocating Chiefs defense in Week 3, with two of the three incompletions on his targets coming from bad misses by a now immobile Kirk Cousins that seems to be struggling with his throwing motion due to a healing Achilles. London typically requires above average volume to return fantasy utility due to a role that lacks the seven through nine routes, which he found on Sunday Night Football. London finds himself in a difficult matchup with Marshon Lattimore in Week 4 when the Falcons take on the Saints.
Bijan Robinson

ATL Running Back #7

Bijan Robinson rushed 16 times for 31 yards and a touchdown in the Falcons’ Week 3 loss to the Chiefs, adding 21 yards on two receptions.

Robinson struggled to find room to run against an athletic and oversized Kansas City defensive front, averaging just 1.9 yards per carry on the evening. A touchdown in the second quarter was overshadowed by a stuffed wide-gap run on fourth down in the red zone with under a minute to play, which allowed the Chiefs to ice the game late. Even so, Robinson saw 18 opportunities to the seven of Tyler Allgeier, indicating a continued stranglehold on a borderline workhorse role for the Falcons. Robinson could find the sledding difficult again in Week 4 when the Falcons host the Saints.
Kirk Cousins

ATL Quarterback #18

Kirk Cousins completed 20-of-29 passes for 230 yards, one touchdown, and one interception in the Falcons’ 22-17, Week 3 loss to the Chiefs.

The Falcons defense once again gave the team a chance late but a failed fourth down conversion in the red zone with under a minute to play would ultimately halt yet another comeback effort from Kirk Cousins. The Falcons jumped out to a solid lead in the first half after finding paint on two of their first three possessions, eventually allowing the Chiefs to claw their way back into the game while managing just three additional points the rest of the game. Cousins continues to look largely immobile in the pocket as he works his way back from a torn Achilles last season, something that also seems to be affecting his throwing motion. The throwing mechanics have led to a higher rate of short field throws through three weeks, something Falcons fans and fantasy managers are hoping will improve as the seasons surges on. Up next for the Falcons is a difficult test against the Saints in Week 4.
Xavier Worthy

KC Wide Receiver #1

Xavier Worthy caught 2-of-4 targets for 17 yards in the Chiefs’ Week 3 win over the Falcons, adding 13 yards on three carries.

While the speed is tantalizing while playing in an offense captained by Patrick Mahomes, Worthy has yet to demonstrate the ability to run a full route tree through three games. Furthermore, the Kansas City offense continues to be based in short area passing, leading to Rashee Rice’s continued dominance over targets. There are bound to be better fantasy days ahead for the speedy youngster, but figuring out when those will surface could prove challenging. Up next for Worthy and the Chiefs is a road date with the Chargers in Week 4.
Travis Kelce

KC Tight End #87

Travis Kelce caught 4-of-5 targets for 30 yards in the Chiefs’ Week 3 win over the Falcons.

The 30 yards were actually the second most on the team behind alpha wide receiver Rashee Rice. Even so, fantasy managers that invested a premium pick in the veteran tight end have now endured three straight mundane fantasy performances to start the season, something we’re not used to seeing with Kelce. Although he clearly lacks the same burst at the top of routes, Kelce remains one of the smartest tight ends in the game and should have better fantasy days ahead.
