Jordan Mason (shoulder) returned for the second half of Thursday’s game against the Seahawks.

Deemed questionable late in the second quarter, Mason handled the 49ers’ first touch of the second half. He did immediately check out after one play, so it could be a bit of an uneven finish to the game for the 49ers’ lead back. Expect to see plenty of Isaac Guerendo.
Christian McCaffrey

SF Running Back #23

Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer reports Christian McCaffrey (achilles, injured reserve) “feels good” and has begun “ramping up” his football activities.

Per Breer, CMC “just started feeling like himself again last week.” Breer also reports there have been “no flare ups or setbacks.” It sounds like this time it might count for McCaffrey’s return, though it might still be a long shot to see him in Week 7 against the Chiefs since he’s yet to get moving in earnest. It’s possible following the 49ers’ Week 9 ends up McCaffrey’s most likely return date.
Haason Reddick

NYJ Linebacker #7

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports CAA has “parted ways” with holdout client Jets EDGE Haason Reddick.

Either Reddick’s agents are trying to absolve themselves of any blame for his holdout fiasco, or he really has been going against their advice this entire time. It’s possible the initial holdout was a team effort that has since morphed into Reddick against the world against the advice of his reps. Pot committed now, Reddick is going to need some better counsel to get out of this mess.
Rachaad White

TB Running Back #1

Rachaad White (foot) was downgraded to “DNP” for Thursday’s practice.

Uh oh. Mid-week downgrades are rarely good news, and we didn’t see anything to convince us to the contrary Thursday. This puts White at more doubtful than questionable to face the Saints, especially since Tampa will probably reckon they don’t need him to beat a team starting a rookie quarterback. Friday will tell the tale, but fantasy managers should be planning on alternatives this weekend. Bucky Irving would be a high-end RB2 in White’s absence.
Jakobi Meyers

LV Wide Receiver #16

Jakobi Meyers (ankle) remained sidelined for Thursday’s practice.

Meyers is the kind of veteran who could get back on track to play with even a “limited” Friday session, but he is now firmly on the wrong side of questionable as the Raiders prepare to change quarterbacks from Gardner Minshew to Aidan O’Connell. It’s a nightmare scenario for O’Connell, who is already without Davante Adams. Meyers joining Adams on the shelf would make Tre Tucker a desperation WR3. For his part, Meyers will crack the top 36 if he manages to suit up.
Evan Engram

JAX Tight End #17

Evan Engram (hamstring) remained “limited” for Thursday’s practice.

Coach Doug Pederson has already said there’s a “pretty good” chance Engram finally returns for Week 6, though a “full” practice on Friday would guarantee it. We are unlikely to get that, with “limited/questionable” the probable outcome of Friday’s report. The signs are nevertheless good enough that fantasy managers can consider Engram definitively on the right side of questionable. Looking to re-prove his health in a mostly struggling offense, Engram will be a lower-end TE1 for a tough Bears matchup.
Rashid Shaheed

NO Wide Receiver #22

Rashid Shaheed (hip) said he expects to play Sunday vs. the Bucs.

Shaheed missed Wednesday’s practice but was back for a limited session on Thursday. “I’ll be all good,” Shaheed said. “Just trying to take care of this hip. By the time game time comes around I’ll be alright.” This is an instance where it seems like we can take the player at their word. The bigger problem for Shaheed is the insertion of rookie Spencer Rattler under center with Derek Carr week to week with an oblique issue. An already volatile player will now be even moreso, knocking Shaheed out of the top 40 after he had been pushing up the ranks in recent weeks.
James Cook

BUF Running Back #4

James Cook (foot/toe) did not practice Thursday.

Cook missed Wednesday’s practice as well. The Bills play on Monday Night Football, giving him an extra day to get back on the field, but a DNP for the first official practice of the week is not a good sign. Ty Johnson has played a role on passing downs with Cook healthy and would likely see more work on the ground if he can’t suit up. Rookie Ray Davis is also waiting in the wings. Davis would presumably be the team’s primary option on early downs, though he will top out as a risky RB3 if Cook is ruled out.
Malik Nabers

NYG Wide Receiver #1

The Athletic’s Dan Duggan reports Malik Nabers (concussion) “did much less” in Thursday’s practice than on Wednesday.

Duggan is only privy to the portion of practice open to the media, but it’s still a bad sign for the rookie receiver. Nabers will go down as a DNP when the Giants release their injury report for today. Head coach Brian Daboll told reporters it would be hard for Nabers to clear the league’s concussion protocol if he doesn’t practice on Friday. All signs point to Nabers missing another week with the brain injury. Darius Slayton stepped up with eight catches for 122 yards and a touchdown in Week 5. He would presumably be the team’s top receiver once again if Nabers sits. Slayton is worth an add as a potential WR4 in all fantasy formats.
Rhamondre Stevenson

NE Running Back #38

Rhamondre Stevenson (foot) did not practice Thursday.

Stevenson was not spotted during the portion of practice open to the media, though he could technically return for a limited session later in practice. After missing Wednesday’s practice as well, that looks unlikely. Stevenson is dealing with a foot injury he suffered in Week 5. He initially called it a calf issue but the Pats listed him with a foot injury on their practice report. If he can’t suit up this week, Antonio Gibson, who got the start last week, would be in line for a sizable workload.
