BUF Running Back #4

Bills RB James Cook (toe) is out for Monday Night Football in Week 6 against the Jets.

Cook indicated on Saturday that he intended to play, something that came into question when the team elevated Frank Gore Jr. early Monday. Ultimately, the veteran running back was unable to exhibited enough health to suit up in Week 6, making it likely we see Ray Davis and Ty Johnson split the backfield work against the Jets. Also inactive for the Bills are S Mike Edwards, LB Joe Andreessen, LB Edufuan Ulofoshio, G/C Will Clapp, and DT Ed Oliver.
Rashid Shaheed

NO Wide Receiver #22

Rashid Shaheed (knee) did not practice on Monday.

This is an estimated report. This is the surprise of the two wideout injuries for New Orleans, and it’s a new listing after Shaheed was on the injury report with a hip last week. This could be management, it could be more serious. We simply don’t have much information at the moment. The practice report on Tuesday will tell more of the tale. If Shaheed misses Thursday night’s game against the Broncos, we could be in for a lot of Bub Means and Cedrick Wilson.
Anthony Richardson

IND Quarterback #5

Colts HC Shane Steichen said Anthony Richardson (oblique) will play in Week 7 against the Dolphins if he does not suffer any setbacks.

“I think he’ll be ready to go,” Steichen said of his quarterback during a Monday presser. Richardson was a full participant in last week’s practice and was “tracking to play,” per ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler before the team ultimately ruled him out against the Titans 90 minutes before kickoff. Richardson will presumably log another full week of practice if healthy, and will be a fringe QB1 if active come Sunday.
Jonathon Brooks

CAR Running Back #24

Panthers coach Dave Canales said Carolina will open the 21-day window for Jonathan Brooks (knee) to return from injured reserve this week.

Brooks has been sidelined while returning from an ACL reconstruction. This does not mean that Brooks will be active this week, but it does mean that he’ll be able to practice ahead of being activated from injured reserve. (Canales said he’s hoping that Brooks will be formally activated later today.) We’ll keep a close eye on his practice status this week ahead of Carolina’s Week 7 game against the Commanders. Even if he does play this week, it’s likely the Panthers will want to see him look like himself on the field before they give him a starter’s workload. This news could wind down Chuba Hubbard’s fantasy value eventually, though.
Jerome Ford

CLE Running Back #34

Browns coach Kevin Stefanski said Jerome Ford (hamstring) will be “week to week.”

Ford’s time as the lead back was winding down with Nick Chubb likely to be activated from injured reserve in the near future anyway, so fantasy managers in questionable roster situations can probably safely discard him if they need space. Week-to-week has been the new injury buzz word this week from coaches and it’s likely that Ford is set to miss at least a week, perhaps two, with the hamstring injury he suffered in the first quarter. D’Onta Foreman and Pierre Strong would get a crack in a committee if Chubb isn’t ready for Week 7 against the Bengals.
Deshaun Watson

CLE Quarterback #4

Browns coach Kevin Stefanski said Deshaun Watson would remain the starting quarterback because “Deshaun gives us the best chance to win, continues to give us the best chance to win.”

:rolleyes: Watson has had one of the worst seasons in recent history. The good news is he draws the Bengals next week. The bad news is he hasn’t taken advantage of any of his supposedly advantageous matchups this year. Even in SuperFlex leagues Watson with byes, it’s hard to imagine starting Watson right now. Jameis Winston will continue to wait for somebody — likely Cleveland’s ownership, if we’re being honest — to find some reason.
Tua Tagovailoa

MIA Quarterback #1

Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel confirmed the team expects Tua Tagovailoa (concussion, injured reserve) to play again in 2024.

Per McDaniel, Tagovailoa is still seeking information regarding his brain injury, and “the process continues.” Tagovailoa is first eligible to return in Week 8. Tagovailoa’s head injuries have become a serious talking point over the last few years, with experts saying he will need to miss extended periods of time should he suffer any other concussions in the future. It was rumored earlier that a Week 8 return against the Cardinals could be in store, but we’ll see what the team has to say about that at a later date. For now, it’s at least one more week of Tyler Huntley, which will ding the fantasy values of Tyreek Hill, Jaylen Waddle, and all other offensive weapons in Sunday’s game against the Colts.
Aidan Hutchinson

DET Defensive End #97

The Lions announced that Aidan Hutchinson “underwent successful surgery to repair a fractured tibia and fibula” and that “there is no timeline for his return to play at this time.”

The Lions aren’t putting a timeline on Hutchinson’s return, but Hutchinson is likely to miss the rest of the season and perhaps all of the postseason with the injury. It was a brutal injury for one of the league’s premiere pass rushers, who currently leads the league with 7.5 sacks while also racking up seven TFLs and one forced fumble.
Travis Etienne Jr.

JAX Running Back #1

Jaguars HC Doug Pederson said Travis Etienne is considered week-to-week with a hamstring injury.

Etienne exited in Sunday’s game against the Bears with the injury and did not return to the field. His absence resulted in Tank Bigsby and D’Ernest Johnson splitting the backfield, with Johnson actually out-snapping Bigsby 35-17. Johnson was utilized as the primary pass-catching back with Etienne out, and ran a route on 25 of his snaps while also seeing six carries. Bigsby will profile as a game-script dependent back while Etienne is out, but should see plenty of opportunities in Week 7 against the Patriots.
Darius Slayton

NYG Wide Receiver #86

Darius Slayton caught 6-of-11 targets for 57 yards in the Giants’ Week 6 loss to the Bengals.

Slayton operated as the clear top dog in the Giants’ pass attack for the second consecutive week without Malik Nabers, this time failing to return the same counting stats as he did in Week 5 when he went over 100 yards and found the end zone. Slayton is not typically counted on to be the top wide receiver for the Giants, meaning his fantasy value is likely to fall back to earth once Nabers returns from a concussion suffered in Week 5. That could come as early as Week 7 when the Giants play host to the division rival Eagles.
