  • CIN Wide Receiver #5
Higgins missed the first two games of the regular season after suffering a hamstring injury in the week leading up to the first game, but will make his season debut against the Commanders on Monday night. The 0-2 Bengals got embarrassed by the Patriots to start the season before going toe-to-toe with the Chiefs in Week 2, ultimately losing by one point on a last second field goal. They now receive a get-right spot against the floundering Commanders and are nearing full strength on offense, the perfect opportunity to grab their first win of the season. There have been no reports regarding an expected snap rate for the contract-year veteran but it is safe to assume he might be held below his normal every-down role in his first game action of the season.
  • JAX Running Back #4
Bigsby’s shoulder issue ended up little more than a scare. The Jags upped Bigsby’s workload in Week 1 and would clearly like to continue doing so, but it’s possible his Week 2 ding gives him fewer opportunities to claim the “hot hand” against the Bills Monday. He’s not an overly compelling RB3/FLEX as a touchdown-dependent road ‘dog.
  • JAX Tight End #17
Engram has yet to resume practicing, and the Jags aren’t expecting him to go on Saturday. That leaves Brenton Strange to make another spot start after he surprisingly commanded six targets in Week 2. Seeing as he’s yet to take the field since getting injured in pre-game warmups last Sunday, Engram is not looking like a particularly strong bet to return in Week 4.
  • DAL Wide Receiver #88
Lamb was a surprise addition to the injury report on Wednesday and did not participate in the first practice of the week. It seems to have been a precaution as the superstar receiver was back on the field for Thursday’s session before being cleared entirely on Friday. For his lofty standards, Lamb has had a quiet start to the season. He has nine receptions for 151 yards and one touchdown through two games. The Cowboys’ matchup with Baltimore projects for plenty of points, putting Lamb in a great spot to post his first game-breaking performance of the season.
  • HOU Running Back #28
Mixon did not practice at all this week and players rarely play through doubtful tags, so fantasy managers can move forward assuming Mixon is out for Week 3. Backup running back Dameon Pierce is also out, putting Cam Akers in line to start versus the Vikings. Akers played well in the preseason despite joining the team after the start of training camp and managed to carve out a spot on the roster via his performance. He should see the bulk of Houston’s carries this week with Dare Ogunbowale pitching in on obvious passing downs. Akers ranks as an RB2 for Week 3.
  • LAC Quarterback #10
Herbert told reporters he suffered a high-ankle sprain in the Chargers’ Week 2 win over the Panthers. Few players play through that injury without missing any time, so it looks like Herbert is going to be a true game-time call for Week 3. Per The Athletic’s Daniel Popper, Herbert did not practice on Friday before being listed as questionable. He was a limited participant in Thursday’s session. Jim Harbaugh wouldn’t say who will draw the start if Herbert can’t play. The Chargers have Taylor Heinicke and Easton Stick on the active roster. Either way, LA projects to lead the league in rush attempts versus a Steelers team that wants to play the same game.
  • MIN Wide Receiver #18
Jefferson was limited in practice on Wednesday and Thursday before being upgraded to a full go to close the week. He will play without any limitations in a potential shootout with the Texans. Not that you needed more reasons to play Jefferson, but the Vikings ruled out Jordan Addison for Week 3 because of an ankle issue. Jefferson projects for a league-leading target share and is a good bet to be the WR1 overall this week.
  • CHI Wide Receiver #13
Allen suffered the heel injury in Week 1 and has yet to return to practice. He’s out for Week 3 and his Week 4 status is up in the air now as well. In the meantime, DJ Moore will dominate the targets for Chicago. He saw 10 targets last week, though he only turned that into six grabs for 53 yards. Despite the quiet outing, Moore remains in the WR2 ranks for Week 3 based on his elite target share projection. Rookie wideout Rome Odunze should also see more work sans Allen.
  • KC Running Back #10
Pacheco, who fractured his leg in Week 2 against the Bengals, underwent surgery this week. “I can’t give you a time when he’ll return,” Reid told reporters Thursday. “We’ll just see if it’s this season or next season.” It had been reported that Pacheco would miss 6-8 weeks with the leg injury, putting him back on the field sometime in November at the latest. That he could miss the remainder of the regular season means Carson Steele and Samaje Perine could split backfield duties for longer than expected. Kareem Hunt could also mix in at some point. Perine is likely to inherit the pass-catching role out of the KC backfield.
  • NYJ Running Back #20
Hall has now reached 20 touches and found the end zone in all three of his appearances so far this season. He hasn’t been very efficient in the process, while fantasy managers are undoubtedly nervous about Braelon Allen’s usage, but Hall is getting elite RB1 handles. Those should quickly give way to elite RB1 returns, especially since Aaron Rodgers has looked better each week. Allen, who notched 14 touches of his own this evening, isn’t going to go away, but this backfield is big enough for two runners considering the Jets’ pass-catching limitations. The Broncos are on tap for Week 4.
