Whoops. Asked about Hurts’ absence from Wednesday’s practice for “rest” purposes, Sirianni revealed Hurts is dealing with an ankle issue, even going so far as to say it was “on the injury report.” He was then “corrected” by an Eagles PR person that Hurts’ absence was “rest” related. This isn’t the first time we’ve had the Eagles misled us on Hurts’ health, but it’s also true there is zero doubt as to his Week 10 availability against the Cowboys. We suppose his effectiveness could be another matter. The Eagles will be getting a call from the league.
  • HOU Wide Receiver #12
Collins has not practiced this week, but may get on the field in some capacity on Friday with this latest designation. With Stefon Diggs lost for the season, the Texans are desperate to have Collins back in the fold of hopes of bolstering a passing game that has struggled as of late. We’d still consider Collins a long-shot to play in Week 10 against the Lions, but the team should give us more on that before the end of the day.
  • CIN Quarterback #9
Burrow is up to nine touchdown passes over the past five days, and finishes the regular season 64-of-95 (67.3) for 820 yards (8.6 YPA), nine scores and one interception in two games against the Ravens. The problem for Burrow, of course, is that the Bengals have no defense and are 0-2 against Baltimore in that timespan. Football justice, apparently in short supply these days. Playing perfect games in losing efforts has been far too common for Burrow this season, but he’s playing at an MVP level. Ja’Marr Chase made it easy to look like an MVP tonight, housing scores of 67 and 70 yards. Burrow is doing his part for both fantasy managers and the Bengals, though the Chargers are a more difficult Week 11 matchup than the Ravens and Raiders were these past two weeks.
  • CIN Wide Receiver #1
Mercy. This being Chase, none of those numbers were even new career highs, but it topped Jauan Jennings’ bonkers Week 3 for the best fantasy effort by any wideout all season. Chase got loose for scores of 67, 70 and five yards. The first was a simple crosser he turned into a YAC masterpiece. The second was a coverage miscommunication. The third came in the end zone itself. Unreal. It means Chase finishes the regular season with 21 catches for 457 yards and five touchdowns in two games against the Ravens. That yardage is the single-season record for a wideout against any one opponent. Chase is always capable of these kinds of nights, but even moreso when Tee Higgins is sidelined. Higgins’ health is the big question headed into a Week 11 Sunday night matchup with the Chargers.
  • BAL Safety #14
Hamilton landed awkwardly late in the first half and went down in a heap. He eventually made his way off the field under his own power but was walking with a heavy limp. He headed straight to the X-ray room and was ruled out early in the third quarter. It’s a big, big loss for a Ravens defense already struggling mightily against the pass.
  • SF Running Back #23
After toying with the “competitive advantage” game with non-updates on CMC’s status, Shanahan finally admits the obvious. McCaffrey has been practicing without setbacks and could be ready for something of a full load in Tampa. Even if 18-20 touches is ultimately unlikely, even 12-15 keeps McCaffrey locked in as a no-brainer RB1.
  • CIN Wide Receiver #5
Higgins was always expected to remain sidelined after failing to get in a practice on the short week. Higgins isn’t exactly known as a quick healer, but 10 days hence against the Chargers could be realistic after he at least got a “doubtful” tag as opposed to an immediate rule-out this week. Joining Higgins on the shelf are LT Orlando Brown, WR Charlie Jones, RB Kendall Milton, EDGE Cedric Johnson and TE Tanner McLachlan.
  • JAX Quarterback #16
Lawrence’s injury is to his non-throwing shoulder but the Jaguars’ signal-caller is still receiving treatment and continues to “weigh options for the future,” per Rapoport. It sounds like Lawrence could be looking at an extended absence, although nothing is definite at this time. Mac Jones will get the nod in Week 10 if Lawrence doesn’t play. It would be Jones’ first start since Week 12 of last season.
  • CAR Running Back #30
Hubbard has served as the Panthers’ bell cow back for most of this season. The fourth-year back has racked up 773 yards from scrimmage and six touchdowns in his first nine games and is averaging 17.7 opportunities per game — a career-high. The Panthers’ decision to re-up with Hubbard while rookie second rounder Jonathon Brooks lies in wait is a curious one, but it’s safe to assume both backs will see plenty of work in the coming years. Hubbard’s deal includes $15 million in guaranteed money and he can earn up to $37.2 million with added incentives.
  • DAL Quarterback #4
Slater also reports that her sources told her “it typically takes more than a 4 week recovery. In some cases, they let it scar over, repair and then strengthen. With that being said, Prescott is seeking other opinions which is why there is currently a reluctance to place him on IR or make any determinations about a timeline for return.” An avulsion injury is far more serious than a typical strain. Fantasy managers should prudently move on from Prescott at this time.
